    Then let's see you do it.

    Give him 45 years, a multi-billion dollar budget, proven launch and flight platforms with 20+ years of successful flights, a number of catastrophic failures to learn from and a 50 odd professional test pilots and I'm sure he could do better than dock with a satellite in orbit.

    NASA does more impressive stuff than this every day, and could be doing even more stuff if they were better managed and funded.

    scary that they did not wipe it to Department of Defense standards which I believe is wiping the whole disk and then writing 1010 all over it.

    That's nearly right. The actual procedure is to wipe it to DoD standards, and then load it up with fake documents.

    e.g. Ubuntu

    Ubuntu is used on less than 1% of desktops. The spring framework is used in something like 50% of enterprises that use a java application framework.

    And how is that a threat to Microsoft?

    Suggesting that they're some major threat is more than a little over the top.

    No it isn't. They are already one of the most common, if not the most common, java enterprise frameworks in use today.

    Commonly used != profitable threat

    Do you want to be tied to a vendor?

    If the answer is no, then you understand. if you don't mind being tied to a vendor and at their mercy, then i guess the answer for you is that there is no benefit.

    Open hardware has the same value as open software.

    Right... every time I run a high-end game on my propriatary 3D driver I have to stop and flagellate myself halfway though to dull the guilt... not...

    Funny how they seem to lack the same understanding of (then) current technology and terminology as the current group.

    Actually that terminology was in common usage in the period. For some examples read the original Sherlock Holmes stories or works by H.G. Wells.

    Of course, its the first thing I do when I install. But yeah, that is one the biggest complaints that I see every time Ubuntu comes around for a release.

    OK.... So people's biggest complaint about Ubuntu is that the default theme is too brown?

    Yes they have improved, but calling Acrobat "most execrably awful, arrogant, bloated, buggy, piece of software ever made, ever" is blatantly unfair when you use current versions of both side by side.

    (I'd be a lot happier if Symphony shipped an up-to-date version of Open Office and it took less time to start ...)
