I can't tell you how good their service is yet. I only ordered the DSL (768 SDSL approx. $150/mo) on 6/29, but the "loop" line was installed by Ameritech on 7/6, and Covad is scheduled to do the inhouse wiring on 7/11.
Beats my past experience with the now defunct Northpoint (Netsight ISP) by 3 months!
Plus Speakeasy has a great web interface for keeping me uptodate with the state of my order. (And provides 30hr/month dial-up service for free.)
They have a lot of choices for DSL configuration, and allow up to 10 IP addresses for Residential service.
I'm confident that my good experience will continue. Check out DSL Reports for more end-user experiences with this and other ISPs/providers.
So they're "undercover" highway patrol. "Brown Paper Bag" in CB speak (as I recall). Can/do they still enforce the law? e.g. pull someone over and ticket 'em for speeding etc.?
You're not kidding...they killed every single main character that was a 'good guy' in the last episode. I couldn't believe my eyes, but I thought it was the best ending I'd ever seen!
Yes, visual controls (ones that either directly or indirectly use the Win32 API) will likely have the most recoding required. Same is true for anthing that uses any DLL calls.
However, there are tons of components & objects that aren't visual and don't rely on the existence of external DLLs. (Much of our business rules, interfaces & objects should translate without hastle.)
It's still easier and generally better than writing from scratch:)
I just wish Kylix wasn't restricted to the Intel platform...which I believe it is. Means that Java is still a better choice for us in the long run...platform independence wise.
Well, I personally consider very few things to be actually impossible...just wildly improbable (to paraphrase the now "potentially" absent Mr. Adams).
Apparently, Jesus once said "the meek shall inherit the Earth". Assuming he meant the planet Earth, and not just dirt in general, that stakes a definitive "claim to [our] world". And who is more meek than a dead person?
Therefore, the dead do potentially have a "claim to our world", however, as posession is 9/10ths of the law (at least in the USA), I say the live people have a greater claim.
Being affected or not seems unrelated to the lack of any said "claims".
You are so right!
I couldn't believe their horse-sh*t about theirs being the first tablet (landscape/portrait) with a detachable keyboard.
I still have my Concerto, actually thinking of giving to my son now...let's see if people still have their PaceBlade in 6 years... ---- Sigs are bad for your health ----
Yes, but as they're already trying to block people from getting to these sites (and unintentionally blocking "valid" sites) why not just make it easier, and therefore let the "valid" content through...
We wouldn't have to use an ISP that blocked those addresses...and an ISP wouldn't want to if it wanted our business.
Well, I was off by four cents, but here's a snip from the www.netflix.com site for my wife's account:
Pricing, Program Size and Renewal
You are currently being charged $19.95 per period.
Your current program allows you to have up to 3 movies out at a time.
I do know that there are other membership options...but I didn't see one for 4 movies out at a time...I don't mind being wrong however. More power to you.
If you join, and pay for the service (which I do), then you'll get your own spamcop.net email address. At that point, you can either have your current mail forward through your spamcop account, or have spamcop POP your mail for you. It can POP multiple accounts.
It's also usage based, which means you pay for the amount you use it (by byte). Unfortunately, I received a number of very large attachments recently, and it ate heavily into my "fuel".
You wouldn't believe how many surveys I've filled out where they said they'd email me the results.
Of course, they never did...maybe they'll prove to be the exception to the rule. ---- Sigs are bad for your health ----
Now we're not sure if we should wait or order from Peapod...going to the store is simply not an option :)

I believe the standard formula is actually only 10 mph over the Posted limit. At least in IL.

Actually, the vast majority of Delphi components are written in native Delphi.
There will probably need to be some modification of the code to move them to Delphi 6/Kylix, but on the whole it's supposed to be an easy transition.

Rather wild and unsubstantiated statement, can you prove it?
Just curious.

Does "Military Personnel" cover it?
