If the economy wasn't as down as it is right now, I'd jump on it just so I could play with a new toy. On the whole I do like what I see, though I've not got my hands on one to really get a feel for it. Tried for the beta but didn't make it:(
I'll wait and see how the SDK fleshes out, before I take a longer look at it...this way I can encourage my boss to buy one for development reasons. And keep my pocket money for other toys...
I was initially impressed with this device, and I've been waiting for it for almost a year now. However, not having a touch screen I think hampers it immensly, and not being able to dial a number (one that's not already in your address book) without openning it and punching the number in using the keyboard is going to limit it.
I know it's not being targetted to business types, but I think that it's the business types who can really make it popular.
I'm hopful that the next version of this will have those issues taken care of.
Yes, but it's those situations that they (writers etc.) create and haven't yet decided how the characters are going to get out of, where they end up creating new "trek lore".
A particular instance comes to mind...
There was an early episode of ST:TOS, with Spock (and probably Kirk et. al.) being detained by some impolite alien (not that Spock isn't an alien...but hey). They (the writer(s)/director) hadn't figured-out how Spock etc. were going to get out the predicament. Nimoy apparently popped-up the suggestion that he touch the guy on the neck (or something like that). Lo! and the Vulcan Neck Pinch was born.
I wrote a version in Java (to be released under the Apache Software License version 1.1), and created a James mailet wrapper (this lets me plug the code into the James server), but it's written to be used from a variety of interfaces.
I have had a few false positives, but that's probably because I've not gone back and rebuilt my corpus since debugging...I'm very pleased with the results so far...
Now if they just would come up with a portable cell tower...
They have, it's called a COW (Cell On Wheels). Wireless companies mostly wheel them out for special golf tournaments etc. so that the area has additional coverage.
Only one problem in 6 months. Tech. support is fine...if you don't need to call them...if you do need to call them...forget it, mostly you only get support through email...and their responsivness is poor. They do seem to be trying to improve though.
However, on the whole, not too much worse than anyone else I've dealt with, other than Netsight (Chicago, IL)...they were horrible. Never returned calls, email down once a week...on the plus side though...it took them months, and months to bill me
Product Videos -> Cars -> BMW -> 325 -> (BMW, Car & Driver, Road & Track) and watch 3 videos on the new 325 series at my convenience. I win, BMW wins, and Tivo wins. What's the problem?
As long as all that stuff isn't stopping me from recording the shows I want...that's fine. However, for menus as deep as you're suggesting, it would work better for selecting the ad to be "downloaded" at some "available" time.
I could live with that, as I'd only be using disk space for the things I'd want to see (so long as my 6 year old doesn't get too happy with it).
I just went through this...

Wiring A New House?
·
· Score: 2, Informative
Put conduit in. One box per wall per room. Make sure you've got big enough pipes, an even distribution of the pipes through the walls, and a home-run room (or whatever they call it) where everything can come together nicely. (Ours is in the mud room.)
That way you can change the cabling, and easily add more as the occasions arise.
I have Cat5E running through-out the house. The only rooms I didn't wire were the bathrooms, and I already regret it.
Yes, the Klingons knew...the Vulcans (and the humans)...which is who we were talking about...did not.
However, yes, I did miss some of the episode because my cable company RCN has such crappy service that my cable box went offline for 5 minutes during the "space station" scene.
Keep salt water handy...it's your only defense! It melts them.

I only ever saw it in B&W.

OmniRemote is the first one to come to mind, but it's not the only one out there...

Speaking as an agnostic, I personally don't know what to believe...other than, "I believe I'll have another drink".
Now maybe Sony is really giving him a platform he can play with!
I'm watching it again on my TiVo, and yes, the Vulcans did know that the Klingons wanted him back quickly (dead or alive).
However, yes, I did miss some of the episode because my cable company RCN has such crappy service that my cable box went offline for 5 minutes during the "space station" scene.
Oops, there goes the pilot's plot.
Thanks.
It's OK to be initially frightened by the attack, but let's not be scared!
Let's deal with the problem, not hide our heads like ostriches.
