An important part of any modern language is its class libraries.
C# beats C++ only in the size of it's standard library. (Managed C++ doesn't count). If only the ANSI/ISO dudes would include a standard GUI library (even a very simple one) and stop spending so much time on generics and algorithms...
...even if Mozilla is used 100% on the web, Microsoft wouldn't really be affected. They never made much from IE (it's free).
This isn't 1997, when Microsoft thought they had much to lose if they didnt' kick Netscape's ass. Now everybody knows the money's in the server side, not the browser.
