since mars has no fossil fuels, and for the moment no nature to poison poluting mars would be kinda hard, unless ofcourse your wurried about puluting some rocks.
with the current nummer of humans on the earth it would be near imposible to live in "equilibruim" without resorting drastic measures like moving everybody underground.
making mars habitalbe seems like a good way to make sure we CAN live here in "equilibruim"
actualy the problem was a lens
but it was in the device to test the mirror.
it had a slight error and so caused a slight error in the mirror (as the device was used during the making of the mirror as a constant check, and it was used to adjust the machines polishing it)
no total mission costs for completely new hubble will be cheaper then repairing the old one. the new one will just be launch en let go doable with relatively cheap normal rockets if need be, you dont even need to send a man up there. unlike with the repair mission which will require both people in space and a large number of people on the ground to coordinate it. both of which dont come cheap (specialy when you include the special training the astronaught will need).
you obvious have no idea how things work in countys where guns are illegal.
while the more hardend and orginized crimanals do have guns, they dont use them on anybody but themselfs.
doing anything else would atrackt far to much attention.
that means there is little or no chance of ever having a gun used against you(just threat or actualy fired). and for that reason there is no reason to carry a gun. if you want self defence measures something non-lethal is therefor perfectly adequate.
as for the rant being purely emotional... well the rant was but the reason wherent the only thing purely emotional is the need to carry a gun. nothing rational about it.
about as likely as natualgas power cars tank exploding. which has to date never happend as a result of a crash.
in fact a H2 tank would be safer then a normal petral tank. when it leaks and burns the gas escaps in a big flam shoting up. petral on the other had would form a pool under the car, burning it (and anybody still inside) in the process.
you can change a bit of a flash drive about 100.000 times.
for everyday use this is more then enough but linux changes a lot of things quite often so it wears out relativly quickly.
there are however specialy distributions for flash drives that change verry little, and work almost exclusivly in RAM.
why would they want to ramp up their clock speed?
far to expensive(production costs go up and yield goes down) and costs way to much power.
and since intel is nou starting to pump massive amounts of money into convincing people clock speed isnt everything anymore (they have too) why not take advantige of that.
besides AMD allready convinced all people with computer knowlage that clock speed isnt everything.
burning hybrogen is wastfull, most of the energie is wasted as heat. using a fuelcell gives you direct electrisatie with a minimum of heat producted making is much more efficient.

small faned laptops are often louder then a desktop with decent koeling.

a fuelcell has allready been developed that dusnt need platinum anymore.
