If you are not already aware, I would like to suggest you find, or download, a copy of "Final Fantasy: Pray." It is by far the best Final Fantasy Album. It is a vocal album with orchestral accompaniment. Don't worry, only one song is in english, so you don't have to worry about cheesy lyrics. The rest are Japanese, French, and Portugese. It is beautiful.
Regarding your post, I don't really like Grand Finale, it sounds pretty cheap. "Fithos, Lusec, Wecos, Vinosec", an orchestral arrangement of FFVIII songs, is MUCH better. Also, the piano CD's are all better than Grand Finale, in my opinion. FFVI, FFVIII, and FFIX are amazing.

But the FF directors ALWAYS say this. It is actually quite silly because they said that FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, and FFX-2 were going to be SOOOOO different. They also said the same thing about Chrono Cross and Namco said the same about Xenosaga.
Personally I just think they try to create a little hype for the game by saying its going to be different.
In actuality I think that the game is going to be quite similar to FFX, with the exception of the battle system, which is supposed to create a feel reminiscent of strategy-rpg's, specifically FF Tactics.
I think this might be a pretty worthwhile film. I liked the first one, but I didn't think it was as great as fanboys make it out to be. I think this one will be a little different.
I don't think this will be "I, Robot" animated. The fact that the robot in GITS2 is a "gynoid", seems to point to a slightly darker, and more mature plot.
Of note is the fact that GITS2 is nominated for the Palme D'Or at the Cannes film festival. It is the first animated film to achieve that.
I also think that this movie will be more in tune with westerners vision of what a sci-fi film should be. Apparently it is quite an intelligent film, but the ideas may be more palatable to mainstream America than many other popular anime films.
I probably won't be able to see it in theaters, but I will definitely pick up the DVD.
Apparently this is going to be an action rpg in the same category as the Zelda games.
Personally I was hoping for a traditional rpg sequal to the original. I am not going to play the cell phone based game.
I am anticipating the release of Advent Children. I hope that they use some of the original themes when scoring the movie. Uematsu should be consulted.
FFXII looks very promising, I only hope that it is more challenging than FFX.

If you have heard the quality of the dub for the first film, you should be elated that they did not dub this one for american release.
