WTF, are all librarians militant? STFU and keep the library running and stop giving us YOUR OPINION on privacy issues already. Its not your job!! You are a govt employee with way better pension and bennies than most of us, but your opinion on privacy issues is not relevent. If you are asked by your mayor/count commission/whatever to take the name of everyone that enters the door, do it or find another job. In fact, I'll take the Fin job. Your opinion is no more valuable than customers on what can and cant be done with library information.
"THE USA is getting the most benefit from the open source community, and anything that benefits the USA is always bad.
The EU has not figured out how, yet, if we cant have it, how we are going to screw it up worldwide."
Dont tell me, this guy is FRENCH, right?
If you want to get any laws changed or amended, the class could have looked up the federal, state, and local govt officials information.
This would have highlighted the point.
Either way, could we see exactly how they got this info so we can reproduce it for ourselves and contact the various entities about our own info?
Is the class work itself public information?
Please. I am sure when you die, your gravestone will remind everyone how "hard" you worked getting that latest snippet of code out. Obviously you live to work. What then, is your reward?
I'd like my bank to send me an email for every transaction (as realtime as possible) concerning any of my accounts.
Since i get mail on my phone, I would know quickly what my wife (or others) are doing in my accounts.
Do any banks offer this self policing idea?
Perhaps a better debate would be how the establishment clause prevents teaching a creationism class in public schools.
It's amazing how the simple words can be interpreted by those with their own agenda. Please define how teaching said class equals Congressional legislation for one state religion?? Please.
But hey, these same folks look at Amendment #2 and come up with "only armies get guns". WTF?
"Oh, you want to forcibly overthrow the government?
That's what the founding fathers did you idiot.
How this can be lost on anyone is a testament to how soon we forget, or in this case, never knew.
Christ.
"The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion." - John Adams
You pull this from the Treaty of Tripoli?
Yeah, THAT is a winner.
And based upon that let's not only remove any sense of Christianity from government and schools and anything public, but try and remove Christianity from everything personal as well?
I am not cleagy, but my influence counts just as much as the next guy.
Congress will enact no law.....
We have not built a new road in Portland Oregon in 20 freaking years. You cant avoid trouble spots, period. We do have local and federally funded light rail at a cost of $100 million per mile tho.
That works great for the 1% of the population close to the line.....
Funny how anything that could hurt the USA is fairly popular. Kinda like the UN. And hey, 10 out of 10 scientists that want to make a statement about global warming agree....
Look, if you are not a practicing climatologist, being a scientist gives you no more credibility on Kyoto and global warming than me, who knows more about parents basement climates and has consensus on many IT and pron issues.
Rumor, estimation, clarvoyance, darned good guessing.
The articles just need a slightlty different tone like "yunno, if we were Apple we would " blah, blah, blah.
Then it would be Apple coming forward with any proof.
Please educate yourself, slightly left?

This is the Stanford study.
Many pains taken to have objective indicators.
Scientific minds here in Oregon have wiped out the logging industry for the Spotted Owl, what's next, we cant tear down old barns because of 'barn owls'?
We refused to give farmers water in Klamath Falls because the 'science' said the sucker fish in Klamath Lake would be harmed if the water levels fell below totally arbitrary levels. Shit, you could drain the freakin lake and not kill sucker fish.
Now they are closing the beaches to save the Snowy Plover, which lays its eggs in open sand. Never mind the inland plovers are all over the place next door.
What really peeves me is the arrogance that these so call scientists show, who are funded by the govt and would not have jobs without these crises, and all the while saying THEY know what nature has selected for extinction. yeah.

At $12 it's no brainer, one in each room for home control, connect to front door camera, etc.
Even at $50 (current $ on wm.com)as a home control unit it's doable considering the cost of other solutions.

China will grind to a halt if they had to develop all their own sw.
I like the trade rules that were adopted by the hero in one of the Tom Clancy novels:
USA adopts/mirrors exactly what your trade restrictions are.
This would get the point across quickly.
Please.

Can you describe the Kremlin power grab vs. anything happening in the USA?

The ONLY reason MS even gave a shit about this issue was because if you are not for gay whatever, you are obviously bigoted assholes.
