It does the same thing on two different connections (10Mbit cable and 7Mbit DSL) on different computers, so either those 2 ISPs don't have the external bandwidth, or some external bandwidth provider.
I was wondering the same thing. I didn't have to do anything else than use a different bootloader to install Snow on my netbook. Everything worked out of the box except sound and Ethernet (voodooHDA and Attansic kexts took care of that). But everything else is a vanilla install.
10.6.1 runs pretty good on my 900HA. It's not slower than the XP it came with. It's not slower than 10.5.8 it replaced (in fact it's a little faster). We're not talking CAD/Gaming or any fancy stuff, it's a netbook. But for managing music (iTunes), browsing & email, it's not that slower compared to a full-blown laptop. The point is, the cheapest MAC is $1k and 13 inch. A netbook is $400 and 9". Apple is missing a lot by not having a netbook-class machine. It's gonna have a little slowing apple on the lid, so sell it 5-600$, but keep it at 9-10 inch. They would sell a *lot* of those little machines. How many people use small netbooks in cafes, at school ?
Instead of competing in that range, they're actively preventing atoms from working. It's their OS, it's their right, but it doesn't mean it's the best decision.
They could let iTunes support other devices. =sell more music Or allow something else than iTunes to sync =sell more ipods/iphones Not crippling the OS for a CPU model =sell more OS X licenses (just don't support it if it's not a MAC)
They would have a bigger market share that way.
Hardware's nice, the OS is nice, but they seem to want to remain in a niche market (and not listen to what customers want)
Why can't an AppleTV record shows like a Windows Media Center? It could, but Steve doesn't want it. People would kill to have that feature in a MAC mini yet it's not offered... Just one example amongst many.
It can work if you use 10.6.1's kernel and reinstall your.kext cefore rebooting.
So unless Apple trimmed the code so it would only run on Core/Core2 and *accidentally* removed something the Atom used (which I don't believe), they went out of their way to block netbooks.
It's their right, it's their OS, but instead of making only $profit on os$, they will be making $0.00$.

For long runs, something balanced (like XLR) is better, but I wasn't talking about standard RCA patch cords. Standard RG-6 TV coax with RCA to F81(??) adapters is what I use here for line-level, and it doesn't pick up any kind of interference.
RG-6 has the center conductor, foam insulator (or plastic sometimes), a foil outer conductor along with the shield at the outer part of the cable.
That's what my Cableco uses for drops,in fact that's where I got it from:)
The speakers themselves have a nominal impedance of 8 ohms (standard for residential audio), so the amp could see a too-low impedance at its outputs if too many speaker sets are hooked up in parallel. Unless audio is routed using coax TV cable (shielded) using RCA to coax adapters garbage will be picked up on line-level signals if it's not shielded
Since the wires in a local loop are gauge 20-22, It would have to be really low power. But the biggest problem is the output impedance. Most good amps are rated 4-16 ohms. Each set of speaker you add to the circuit will lower the impedance (they would have to be wired in parallel to have their own volume control). so let's say 4 sets of speakers (8 ohms), we are now down to 1 ohm, much to low for most amps to handle. Besides, that's assuming the local loop has 4 wires, since a phone usually only requires two (tip + ring)
So just deny tech support on non-Apple hardware. I *bought* OS X for my eeePC. They got free money. If people can't install it, they won't get any money. I chose an eeePC because it's small and very portable, don't need/don't care about a DVD drive, and sure as heck didn't want to spend 1000$ on a machine that's going to get banged around in a bag. And I don't want to spend that much money on a workstation type machine when a standard tower would fit the bill. I don't need Xeons.
Great! now if I want something portable, it has to be a 1000$ machine. It gets worse if you want a desktop system. It's either an all-in-one type (mini and iMac) or a full-blown workstation . Their current lineup is missing a small netbook-type machine and a small tower (between iMac and MAC PRO).
When I was a kid, my friends were getting (well their folks were) Atari consoles or similar. Some were getting VIC-20s or IBM compatibles (98% compatible was ballpark in those days IIRC). My dad at the time was an accountant, so he got the best machine / killer app at the time (for him). An Apple ][e clone (Microcom, I still have the machine) and Visicalc (first spreadsheet), with a 5.25 Disk ][ drive with its controller card. I remember that machine being hooked up to a 13" color TV at first, then to a 14" switchable color/monochrome monitor with an Apple language card (Integer basic + full 48K), an 80-column card and some other upgrades.
Why did he get that machine? because of Visicalc. Even if it's primitive by today's standards, it was beating the socks off of *every* other machine because of that *one* application...
*BUT*
It could also run games, in *color* (if you count 6 colors as colors:).
At the time, it was the best machine. A couple years after, I got myself a nice C=64 (which I still have) with a noisy drive (1541 with the pop-eject latch) for games, because it was better at it. But it could never beat my dad's Apple ][ for work-related stuff.
I'm in the process of switching to MAC. The eeePC's primary OS is Snow Kitty (10.6.1), but it quad-boots with XP/7/eeeBuntu. It can also boot with Backtrack on an SD card.
The GUI and the user-friendliness in OS X are fantastic, I even put an old-school rainbow apple sticker on it (going full-circle I guess)
My other machines are Win XP (Athlon X2 Gaming Rig and Sempron Media Center). Testing 7's MCE, it's quite good actually.
I also use an old K6-3 machine with 98SE for old Windows-based games. (for DOS games, I keep an old 160Mhz 486 (Oc'ed) around just for kicks)
Why? because *IT WORKS*
No messing around, not *it works 95%* or such or you have to do some Voodoo (and Yes, I do have 2 of those in my 98 machine, 12MB V2's in SLI).
iPhone? I own one... Jailbroken 16GB White 3G.
Why? Because it's the best darn music player. And one of the best smartphones. The only thing I miss is a smurf keyboard like my sister's BB has.
So, it all comes down to software...
(sorry, I'm French Canadian, my English might not be up to standards)
IMHO that's something that's missing in their lineup, a mid-range mini-tower. I don't want a mac-mini (underpowered and not-upgradeable). Same goes for iMac (even worse, if say the LCD breaks out of warranty, you can't just swap another monitor). Mac PRO, *way* too expensive. I don't need Xeon processors, 2 optical drive bays and all of that. They could build a single-socket machine (and use a standard CPU, not a Xeon), one optical drive bay, 2 HD bays and 4 RAM slots. 2500$ for a tower is too expensive if you don't need a workstation
And using the cable that came with the phone (or aftermarket) to backup the phone's data ???
I did it on my V360, and I still do it on my current phone (sue me, it's an iPhone, but at least it's jailbroken)
It's so simple to backup the device on one's computer...
If it's using WinMo, Active Sync will be able to backup, right?
That's about a month old. New car wins, thanks to crumple zones. I hate that they destroyed a classic car... New style-less car wins against a classic.

Seriously...
:)
they (buffering) have trouble (buffering) offering (buffering) (waiting) standard video.
I don't think starting a movie 45 minutes after it starts streaming a good idea
Strange, loads up fine in both FF and IE8 (XP)

Nice marketing move Steve...
Wow... I didn't remember that. I wonder how many kids were scared by those aliens...
That's really mature. Of course, posting as AC proves my point

Squeezebox would be my choice
Yet people downloading rips or .iso files that have been through DVDshrink can skip those awful ads.
And they're wondering why people are downloading stuff. If I buy it, I'm penalized and forced to watch ads and such.
It does run on a 32-bit CPU, in fact I'm running 10.6.1 on a n270 netbook.
So just deny tech support on non-Apple hardware. I *bought* OS X for my eeePC. They got free money. If people can't install it, they won't get any money. Windows 7 needs a system partition that is blocked by most OEM's backup and restore partition
??? I'm able to quad-boot my 900HA (5 if I count Backtrack in the SD slot). The XP on it is from ASUS' own recovery DVD.
-XP -Primary
-7 -Primary
-Snow Kitty -Primary, formatted as MBR not GUID
-eeeBuntu (think it's a Primary too)
and of course my Data partition
I removed the EFI and recovery partition, not for space, but because I did'nt need them. and that was *after* installing Win 7.
So, Win 7 *can* be installed and work even with the manufacturer's recovery partitions.
Applications, it all comes down to it...
