Even though I started with suse I keep finding it more and more bloated (notice i'm not mentioning any desktop environments) no matter with what UI you use it. It also seems to move in the madrake direction. It is starting to use it's own personalized all-in-one configuration/setup utilities which lock out more "expert" user options.
If I want to edit something in another distro I look for the file in/etc, here I have to look for diferent suse config files, and check to see why X option is greyed out in yast and then try to find documentation as to why it happens. I usually prefer enabling or disabling an option from the config file and look in the log, than just receive a "sorry, can't do that" answer (I'm a bit of a masochist;)).
What are it's advantages over other BSD's?
I have a starange feeling that even if there isn't such a huge difference in required knowledge between linux and BSD, BSD is for more professional uses. I can clearly see the differences in linux distro's. But other than portability, and security, what other differences/uses are there? (Just in case, i'm referring to Open, Free, Net and Dragonfly BSD)
How much proformance does this suck out of the graphic card? What about those of us who can't configure 3D acceleration because ati can't release decent drivers? I think this need some time until there are drivers/modules/whataver that make life on linux simpler. Linux IS ready for the desktop.. it is just not ready for the avg. user.
