Reading the posts its quite funny how the userbase is splitting.
There are more than a few older posters, with high post counts and premium subscriptions, walking away out of disgust. The issue isn't just that Allakhazam was bought out by IGE/RPGholdings, it's that for the longest time Allakhazam (the guy) has been vehemenently (sp) anti-RMT for years, and now for whatever reason, caved to the very people he was against for so long. People feel betrayed, as Allakhazam was one of the few sites that tried to stay RMT-free ad-wise (despite what stupid users would post).
Alla himself posted, after IGE offered to buy them out a year or so ago: "I can assure you that Allakhazam.com never has had and never will have any association with IGE. No amount of money will change that. We are players ourselves and disagree with everything they stand for. I've turned down their advances so many times in so many ways over the years that I think they have finally give up on us."
Now he goes to this extreme: "We are now owned by a company that owns a bunch of stuff, including IGE."
Interesting, no?
only a old version of PSP has been hacked for homebrew.
ALL versions of the DS have been hacked. The only problem is too many OMGWTFUBERHAXORS are too wrapped up in a shitty game system with good graphics to put their abilitys to good use in something that is ripe and ready TO be homebrewed for. the DS is the better system, but as usual people like bells and whistles better than inovation.
JTL does have multiplay space combat, but its such a ass backwards system where tie fighter equped players can be on the Rebel forces and vis versa that it make for some interesteing gameplay.
But Im with you guys if I dont want to be doing land based missions, then its the fault of the developers to force me to to make money. I also agree with his problems with the Rebel and Imperial forces.... a much better idea might have to make it a glory thing and to have the better ships be given to you as you rise up the ranks
I am said girlfriend and have now talked to 4 support techs (as well as befriended one in the process) and have been told time and time again, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PORT 25.
I've even specifically ASKED if it was related to port 25, and was told no, that port was closed back in August- if there were issues with port 25, it would have shown up then.
Likewise, it may not be related to the friendlist update. If it were, EVERY OO customer would have the problem, but as it stands, there are QUITE A FEW PEOPLE who use OO and POL/FFXI who CAN log in.
The tech I spoke with less than an hour ago said to me that the reason it is taking them so long to fix it, is because not every user of both services is experiencing the problem, and its making it very difficult for them to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem.
Either way, I'm still annoyed- part of the reason I got Optimum Online was to play FFXI... and I'm now spending about $70/month for something I can't even do. Frustrating does not even begin to describe how I'm feeling.

Its not exclusive to either system- users with the issue use both PC and PS2. ---p'ed off FFXI player
