    Luckily, easyDNS is nice enough to honor the remaining time on your domains.

    All registrars do that. It's because when you pay for the time with the previous registrar, it sends part to the central registry. Thus the time is already purchased. When you transfer to the new registrar, all it can do is add onto that time.

    It brings you no closer to anything. If the pubs idea of a pint is a little less than another pubs idea, then they can simply add water to equal it out. You can look at something, or measure it yourself, to see if you want it.

    ICANN requires that every registrar have a transfer agreement with another registrar in place in case it goes out of business.
