  1. Re:MOD PARENT UP on OLPC 2.0 — One Laptop Foundation Reboots · · Score: 1

Buy them Euclid's "Elements". It won't get outdated. And they aren't 80 bucks each. Probably 15 from Dover books. Hell it's even in the public domain, we could just print up copies and mail them to the poor little buggers.

I use pop, but I don't remove my mail on gmail. So I have two copies - one on my laptop. If I don't have my laptop, I can check my mail at the website. What is the advantage of this new system ?

The Direct Launch approach, which you can look at in detail here at their website sounds like some people are trying hard to come up with a smart solution, but it isn't clear to an amatuer like me how the current safety issues of the Shuttle would be avoided. I guess maybe because there is no Shuttle for falling foam to hit, for one ?

And yeah, Griffin does come off as a real jerk, esp. when discussing the Shuttle accidents.

Isn't a filter supposed to keep all those caps out of posts ? Anyway, yes you are right, the Beatles weren't commercial at all. That is evident especially now from how they are being such primadonnas about having their music digitally available (online, whatever).

Yes yes yes!! Thank you for adding that. It's along the same lines of saying you can only listen to music purchased from iTunes on an iPod.

Can we please move beyond the Beatles ? They're OK but enough already.

I think to clarify the situation it should be pointed out that pea soup isn't the greenest soup. That would probably be broccoli. Can the parent be modded down for culinary trolling ? He probably knew that all the broccoli people would jump in screaming to the thread.

Do you really think that the money for this would come from that ? That's not the entire budget used for the ISS for example, and the shuttle missions. Special money is allocated for such projects.

And if your concerned about who gets how much, note that the NSF Math & Physical Sciences gets only about 150 million.

Yeah, well maybe the reason he did such a poor job was because he had no experienced. So why was he chosen for the job ? Was there really no one else available who was more qualified ? LOOK at his resume.

I said it was weird, nothing more. If you look at his experience prior to running the FCC it is shocking that he got that job. He was a really junior lawyer, with no background in broadcasting or communications. Call it what you like. You can see his remarkably minimal qualifications here at wikipedia. I can't believe anyone could think he was a reasonable choice.

    Michael, is that you ?
