Well--it could be that the investors said: "You cannot get it to work how it is now, and you're spending too much money. Cut costs and start _not_ loosing money, then we'll invest in you."
Just look at what Al Viro (Yes -- him) found:

When are these Gnome guys gonna get their act together and make their Gnome counterpart called gernel?
We can't have KDE is the only one with an ernel implementation.
Why not use the much better 100% sendmail compatible program PostFix. It has better performance, easier (much easier) configuration and is easy to install? At least all of you sendmail users out there should give it a try.
For the record - I have nothing to do with the PostFix project, I'm just impressed since it's a much better program.
Well, as Roblimo said it - this is the occation to decide some standard on the area. Doesn't matter whether it's metric or English, but a standard i seriously needed!
If Rob Malda feels that./ is not yet mature enough for OS - then it's 100% ok. If Rob Malda never want's to make./ OS because he want's money for it - then it's 100% ok. If Rob Malda's coding abilities sucks and he is ashamed of them - then it's 200% ok
Why is it so hard for the Open Source community to accept that not everyone want to release their products as OS? If people want to go OS, then it's a great thing, but if people don't, then we should accept it and let them be commercial or whatever their desire is!!
Instead of thinking this man is crazy for doing that, and thinking it is a sick thing, maybe we should think of all the good things it could bring to people. Maybe this oneday could bring life to paralized limb's and so on.
The last couple of days we've all heard some pretty scare things with domainname lawsuits and link lawsuits. The latest case (today on./) was in Sweden, and just the day before yesterday I read an article about a Danish boy who's also getting sued for linking to.mp3 files.
The question is - who's there to judge? How can I get sued in America (I live in Denmark) for using a domainname of an artist who Sony has published a record with? It's gonna be very interesting to follow these cases and see how things will work out. Hopefully for the best so the internet can keep on beeing this wonderful anarchistic fenomenon we all like so much.
Well the KDE projekt should not be flamed by all you GNOME people and vice versa. How come the two of them can't live together - maybe even work together? Yes, I know the QPL is not exactly the GPL - but what does it matter? KDE is one of the things that is very very good for linux!
"Emacs, not just a way of life but a complete waste of disk space"
I've been with the linux community since 1996, and I have noticed the vi/emacs question is one of the religious ones. Maybe you can tell me why some people _hate_ emacs, and other - like me - loves it?
You can see what have changed at: www.kernelnotes.org. And since it is Alan Cox who takes care of the 2.2-tree now - probably also at his diary, www.uk.linux.org/diary.
2.5 is definately desktop stable, so the more people testing it, would be good.

Yes, but there is one big problem with that one: The License. That is the same problem as with QMail...

Transmeta have been hosting kernel.org from the beginning.
Since Alan Cox have been taking over the 2.2 kernel branch, there's lot of good info about it at www.uk.linux.org and at his diary.
If you've been with linux since Red Hat 2.1, i seriously doubt this book can bring you anything.

AFAK the KDE 2.0 is going to be built around a CORBA daemon, with off course 100% integration of KOffice. It look pretty cool!
