  1. I like David's conclusion: on Do Particles Have Consciousness? (qz.com) · · Score: 1

    http://consc.net/papers/ideali...

I do not claim that idealism is plausible. No position on the mindâ"body problem is plausible.
Materialism: implausible. Dualism: implausible. Idealism: implausible. Neutral monism: im-
plausible. None of the above: implausible. But the probabilities of all of these views get a boost
from the fact that one of the views must be true. Idealism is not significantly less plausible than
its main competitors. So even though idealism is implausible, there is a non-negligible probability
    that it is true.

  3. Could Java be packaged like Flash? on Canonical To Remove Sun Java From Repositories, Users' Machines · · Score: 1

It seems like the flashplugin-installer Ubuntu package doesn't include the actual flash bits themselves, but rather contains a script named flashplugin-installer which goes and download the flash bits directly off Adobe's website, and installs the .so in the correct place, sets up symlinks, etc.

Now the question is: Can the new Java license permit this kind of mechanism? If so, that could be a workaround.

  9. Re:Fuel economy on Fuel Efficiency and Slow Driving? · · Score: 1

Applicable to highway and local driving, both for safety and fuel efficiency, the following technique might be helpful to follow, especially important in Europe, France and Germany where speed limits are higher or non existent. The main idea of this technique is to try not to use the breaks. By keeping eye focus going from very far to closer and anticipate, try to keep a safe distance with the car in front of you so that if it slows down, you can safely change lane or let go the gas without using the breaks. If you do have to use the breaks, then you did something wrong in your anticipation. You can cheat by down shifting one gear, or turning off overdrive for those driving automatic transmission.
