That's because you don't actually need to learn Objective C to write iPhone games. You can write them in C or C++ and only use some boiler plate code that you can find easily on the internets to wrap some Cocoa stuff for the UI.
The PS3 hasn't been broken because people had no reason to. You can easily install alternative operating systems on the thing. It's even mentioned in the manual. I think things will change though since they removed that option in the new PS3s. But maybe not as you can always find an old PS3 if you want to do homebrew.
You (as well as the reviewer in the article, yes I read it, sue me) seem to be under the impression that the PSPgo is for the current PSP owners. It's not. It's targeted at new customers who don't already have UMDs.
You didn't read the post you are replying to. It said right there you can backup your games, then copy them back to the PSP as much times as you want. So yes you can still play those games 30 years from now if you still have a working PSP.
The target demographic that's mainly interested in "mash[ing] some buttons to kill the baddies" is the group that's currently buying XBox 360s and Playstation 3s - and, based on sales, it's pretty obvious it's a significantly smaller group than the group buying the Wii and/or interested in playing short games that you can pick up for a short while and set down afterward. And, in the end, overall sales is really pretty much the only thing any of these companies care about.
Well if you want to look at sales numbers, Wii has sold about 53M consoles and PS3 + 360 about 55M. So the most you can say is that the two demographic groups have the same size.
Read the article. The AFPA requested the source code of the modifications the company (Edu4) did to VNC but the company refused to provide it and so they were sued.
You need to start taking those numbers (wherever they come from) with large pints of salt. How do you even track Linux's market share when everyone can distribute it? How do you count those machines sold with Windows that get promptly formated and loaded with Linux?
That's not correct. First, they already won Level 1 last year, so there's only 2nd place of Level 1 available for grabs. This year the rules were changed a bit so that each team can try for the challenge at their home bases, and only Armadillo has so far. There are 2 other competitors that have yet to fly. If they succeed at the Level 2 then they will determine who gets first place by looking at who landed the closest to the center of the pad. So even though Armadillo succeeded, the other teams can still do better in theory and claim first place.
The corrections they were making near the end are so that they land as close as possible to the center of the pad, because that counts in determining who gets first place if another team also wins the challenge.
I don't know why people keep bringing this up but the majority of PS3 developers (especially for the big games) don't use OpenGL or any of it's variants. They use a lower level library called LibGCM.
For a long time? There are 2 versions of the fat PS3: the 80GB and the 160GB. They are replacing the 80GB with the new slim 120GB but are keeping the 160GB fat version. And all the fat versions support Linux.
It's been "pretty close" for a year now...

Yeah it's too bad for the two people who have both an AMD and nVidia card on the same machine AND care about PhysX...

PSP doesn't belong in that list. It has two MIPS CPUs, not ARM.

RTFA. They plan to use this rocket in the Google Lunar X Prize.
Also remember they started 8 years ago. x86-64 wasn't yet available.
But you can fit links to pictures and youtube videos in 140 characters.

This and the next 3 pages in that review explain it all very well.
You can actually play UT3 with a keyboard and mouse on the PS3, but that's the exception, not the rule.
Counter examples: 3.5" floppy disc, compact disc, trinitron, bluray.
I love it when factually incorrect posts get modded informative...

Of course, by that logic, then Home should have dies a long time ago too...
Have you actually used Home? People on the internets like to bash it but it's quite popular and Sony's making a lot of money from it.
You know you can get a PS2 new for $100 or a used one for around $50 right?

That's because the Wii is basically an overclocked Gamecube.
So if you already have a PS2 why would you care if the PS3 plays PS2 games? Can't you just play them on the PS2?
