Well, the spell check was fixed, and then they decided to stop directly supporting it and dropped it entirely on the community. I have no idea if the community spelling and grammar extension is any good, but I imagine it's fine, as spelling and grammar don't change much.
That said, I have to admit that I, too, have recently begin using Microsoft Office 2007, as it is required for some of my school work.
I still do most of my work in LaTeX, though, which I consider to be a much better word processor. One could argue that it has a steeper learning curve, but programs like LyX actually make it easier to write some kinds of documents than it is in Word.
Well, just so long as you don't need to read any of the books you've "acquired" more than once. For reference, I give you the many surrounding comments. Here's a few good selections:
Just because I stab some guy in the alley behind Taco Bell instead of on main street doesn't mean I won't be in trouble for it when they find his corpse in the dumpster.
What a dreadfully macabre analogy... Xp
I mean to say, even if I run my server on some odd port, it's still against my contract. Realistically, that's what I ended up doing and it became a non-issue, so you're absolutely right. That doesn't fix the legal concerns, though. When you're getting a legit DMCA letter and your ISP starts asking questions, legal concerns suddenly start to matter a lot more.
I have heard similar praise of the iLiad. About Sony, though, look at the PS3. Until just recently, they actually went out of their way to make it possible to put Linux on them. If you ask me, you're right on about Sony knowing what the consumer wants.
Plus you can mount it under Linux and just copy over your books. My wife has a PRS-500. It's a little slow, but it is one of the earliest models. Definitely the most consumer-friendly option.
Also, there's nothing to prevent anyone from self-hosting in a server sitting in their closet.
Actually, there is. Many residential internet service contracts specifically disallow any kind of server-side stuff. I ran an FTP server and website to get at my homework on my apartment computer from campus when I was at college. Comcast sent me a fairly comprehensive nasty-gram on the subject.
Well, the XBox is still basically a money pit for Microsoft, and the PS3 is extremely profitable for Sony, so I'd say that the sales of PS3 are, in general, better than those the XBox, if not numerically larger.
Additionally, this is hardly relevant to anything I was actually talking about.
Microsoft's streetview ripoff is markedly smoother than Google's streetview, and the 3d effect is extremely well done. They are kicking Google's ass by doing something right.
Also, why is "Troll? Seriously?" starting to become a meme around here? Too many astroturfing mods? It's kind of bizarre.
It's a lot like tipping. At some point, standing ovations almost become customary. I've been to several mediocre plays and musicals that all received standing ovations. We're just very complimentary people.
From my understanding, Microsoft has actually been the first with a lot of technologies (admittedly, most of them were pretty obvious, like Mp3 Players and Tablet PCs) but they lacked the design capability to actually make anything that a consumer would want until they can copy it from someone else. Too much infighting and politics. I mean, look at the XBox. They pour untold millions into that thing, and it is, at best, on par in only the US and UK markets?
Actually, I find a lot of those numbers surprising. I know several people with Wiis and PS3s, but no one with an XBox. Well, not anyone who would admit to it, I suppose. But, it is important to interpret data honestly.
I dunno, this place seems like a pretty big city from their main street. I think Worley, ID, is a better candidate. But if they managed to get Washington's own city of George, they'd actually be ahead of Google's streetview!

I submit to you: The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife (NSFW, unless you work in antique Japanese quasi-porn)

Plus they can eat prey up to 1.5x their size, so trying to keep it in the bathtub without telling your wife probably isn't going to turn out well...
pen chain of squid restaurants
Or sell the meat to an already popular franchise...
McCalamari? McSquid? No... I've got it!
McKraken!
Well, until they have them at Coney Island, I'll just keep my eye on the squidcam. I wonder how long I can control it for...
My god! My PRS-505 can't interpret TeX! That's it. I've got to upgrade to the iLiad now.
*cough*vendor lock-in*cough*
Do people really try to argue that Microsoft software stands on it's own merits?
Psh, real men read their technical manuals on a 65" Plasma Screen.

Sorry, but this is for the "best" eBook reader, not the one "most crippled by DRM."

Isn't 2007 the one with the ribbon that no one can use? Doesn't that make it a new product, the fact that no one knows how to use it anymore?

I know, right? I see this "Anonymous Coward" guy everywhere. I don't know how he has so much time to post!
IANAL, but AFAIK that's fairly typical.
This is a much better solution. Plus, it can melt your face!
