So then, the critics' higher number isn't misleading, it is simply a different way of looking at the numbers. I love when folks use apples and oranges comparisons to make their arguments.

I for one, like the blow 'em up games. I just don't like arguments based on bad math.

I think my larger point was that each of us makes up part of a team. Put a PHB in charge of setting the specs for a large program, and you are in trouble. The bubble proved that business decisions should be made by those with business sense.

American football is not exclusive. The NFL is.

Baseball is not exclusibe. The MLB is.

Unfortunately, we have been trained to believe that the NFL is football and that MLB is baseball.

I like watching highschool ball, and minor league baseball (affiliated with MLB). Not the highest level of the sport. But if more people could take or leave the big leagues, we would not have 8 figure contracts and multi-million dollar licensing deals.

You say "they" need the bitchslap. I think the American public does. Paying extreme amounts of money to watch grown men play a game... idolizing criminals and buying their shoes... EA and others are the symptom not the disease.

"nothing new under the sun" is a reference to the common refrain in Ecclesiastes. Try reading the book, it is amazing to see the thought process so similar to today's current thinking process. The writer is apperently very rich (though I doubt it was really king solomon as most of the church claims).

This person tries to find the meaning of life and finds that everything is ultimately futile. Whether one persues virtue or not, whether one pursues knowledge and wisdom or foolishness, ultimately nothing matters.

    A fascinating read.

The Bible actually records similar sentiments (and its answer to the dilemna) a couple centuries before that even. Nihilism isn't really new.... as it is written: 'Nothing new under the sun'.
