I swear Canucks don't say aboot (other than Newfies, of course, but it's hard enough to parse what they're saying anyway). However, I've also heard that many Canadians can't hear the difference between what we say (aboot/about) and what others hear, and to other cultures/regions it comes out more as aboot.

I don't really think so. I was curious if you (or another AC) were actually doubting the Holocaust, which is a known behaviour among the ignorant, or were trolling as to invoke Godwin's law. I looked at Nihixul's previous posts for evidence of WWII / Holocaust related topics, but didn't find anything from a cursory glance.

As such, I think my response was justified as the reference to the Holocaust could have been substituted with something more appropriate both in content and in intent (i.e. things that are actually imaginary) like unicorns or faeries - which would have made it humorous as some kind of furtive belief. This would then warrant the *whoosh* on my part if I didn't then notice it.

I hope I have now clarified my position.

Many people here are condemning cell phone use, but how many people here sit in front of CRTs, multiple cell phones, pagers, Blackberries, etc? I thought the main concern for damage was that they can get warm and are kept in pockets near the testes (for men), which can interfere with sperm production. If I was so concerned about microwave/radio radiation I'd wear a tinfoil hat and live in a metal box in a basement somewhere. Oh wait, this is Slashdot...

Yeah it is getting to be of a higher quality. Tuesday I checked out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komodo_dragon as I just listened to a podcast about them. I was under the mistaken belief that they have virulent bacteria in their mouth. Wednesday I unearthed my account name and set to work, and someone had greatly improved the article, added a citation and corrected this information. I was impressed.

Then again, for some things, it's important to consider the systematic bias presenting itself in many articles. I think wikipedia has a good article on it... :P

Many people add edits without checking the discussion page to see that they hold a commonly held belief that is wrong. Or it's just vandalism. Look at a popular page's history and many of the edits are pointless re-organizations, vandalism, insertion of incorrect information, and an equal number of reverts to get it back the way it was.

I looked at the first one. It actually shows the opposite of what you are saying. According to that graph the mean for polar sea ice is dropping, and recent years have been worse than less recent years.

The third one is from NOAA statistics you say. But it is only one month (August, unless I am mistaken?), compared against a mean of the previous years. That shows August 2008 was cooler, on average in most areas (and in others, quite neutral), to the mean global temperature of the previous decade. If you look at this data for 2008, it shows the opposite of what you're trying to show http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2008/ . And here's one of the NOAA saying that 2008 was one of the warmest years on record: http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2008/20081216_climatestats.html .

The second link you provided has been much better refuted than I could do on khayman80's blog. (Look up his links about water vapour).

Source? Over what time frame? Maybe you mean that carbon dioxide is a trace gas, at less than 1/2 of a percent composition OF the atmosphere. It has increased concentration 35% since 100 years ago. The only true thing you've said is that water vapour is the the largest source of greenhouse gas.
