came to reply with something along these lines...but got side tracked whilst logging in. Thanks for trying to remind someone that diversity is a word that has many different meanings depending upon the context that it is used. Take for example: "I have diversity in my portfolio." This could mean I hold many different types of investments or properties. Or I could have many different pictures of different types of animals or people in a portfolio. Or it could mean I have a huge folder with many different people in it....if i were warped. Knee jerk responses like the race fueled tripe above reveal more about the responding individual than they do of the original post.
In lay terms....jump off a bridge swilden.
You are not required to carry a credit card. I am currently working on achieving a FICO score of 0. Life can and will go on without debt for me. Yes, I can get a mortgage without a FICO score...it requires manual underwriting, go to a smallish bank and you can do it. meh...another reason do remove myself from that plastic run economy.
The Numbers
96% of corn used for ethanol production is not irrigated
785 gallons water per gallon of ethanol (average crop irrigation)
3-4 gallons water per gallon ethanol (dry grind production)
1.9-6 gallons water per gallon ethanol (conceptual cellulosic production)
2-2.5 gallons water per gallon gasoline (petroleum refining)
0.6 gallons water per kilowatt-hour (coal-fired power plant)
ds
If you would like to do a little further digging on unwise usage of water look into large scale ethanol production (not whiskey)

sorry i don't know how to use html (I am a geek just not a good one!) My fancies lie in the chemistry and drug development distribution world....please forgive.
Hey,
Why not? I mean the state of Louisiana has been doing this for a while. ( http://www.nola.com/business/index.ssf/2011/12/louisiana_will_begin_issuing_t.html )
I'm usually fairly pro-business, but this is just flat out abuse of the working and working poor. I am irate that one of my employers was listed as someone who does this.
Umm driving a car isn't a right.
Owning a gun is one of the rights spelled out specifically in the constitution. I would like to see your license for public speech?
On a non reactionary note--how would a more thorough background check have prevented Newtown?
What does their app do to my phone battery life?
Who doesn't wear glasses in the rain (it can't get wet?)
Why/what does this actually bring in utility to my life?
I think this will actually be adopted by a few, but not mainstreamed in the immediate future. (Think Segway)
I use Kingsoft on my tablet, and it works ok. I've been able to develop a powerpoint, read documents and even edit lightly some documents. It has some cloud integration but also keeps documents on the tablet. Now on my phone I use Google drive, mainly because I have an old smartphone and don't have the resources to load another application.
So what does slashdot use?
I think we had a real misunderstanding. And it was resolved diplomatically. I do believe that at this point we must both retire from/. and possibly the internet as a whole.
cheers.
It is censorship, I agree with you. Is it something that should be controlled by a third party (government)? Would this standard lead to the inability of a corporate or ma and pa store to actually decide "this won't sell therefore we don't want to waste space carrying it"? I don't know, but it isn't really an area I am wanting to investigate. Had Apple blocked the content from loading on their devices then it would be much more unpalletable to myself. The content is still available, Apple just decided that they wouldn't be the middle man here.
I'm no Apple lover, never paid for now will pay for one of their products. I agree, this isn't as big an issue as some here would like to make it. If I don't want to sell red apples at my store because I find their color objectionable, that is my right...as it is MY store. Heck the article allows for loading of said content through other means that aren't even very laborious. So Apple cut out their own profits from something, no loss. Will the book get more publicity from a pseudo streisand effect? heck yes.
my whole response is, meh.
"I'm not arguing that tax rates don't affect behavior at all, but I think those are small adjustments compared to the behavior generated by the simple existence of taxes, regardless of rates."
Is this why we keep raising the "sin" tax? to control behavior? I thought that taxes do influence behavior that's why we should tax all the things that aren't "good for the public."
Which is it?
Taxes regulate behavior? Or, do they have little effect on behavior? Or, is this all just a really boring discussion on how to rearrange chairs on a ship with a huge hole in the hull?
I get confused sometimes.
I don't think that placing value on ones "trending" is a sensible solution. I do not believe that all things in life should be, or can be, for that matter, decided by a popularity contest. Unfortunately the idea that because a lot of people hear a thing, or follow a thing, or even like a thing, this thing becomes absolutely important or relevant to real discussions on a topic is a little off kilter.
Irrelevant things are not relevant!
Why was/is so much stock placed on the number of "followers" a person has? It seems as though this places unwarranted weight/emphasis on opinions and people that shouldn't really have that. (Read this as Ms. Jenny McCarthy ranting about vaccinations being taken as relevant to a real discussion on health care.)

actually the rate i have received is the same as the national average.

Who measures in feet? That's so archaic! Try using something more modern, like Empire State buildings...or Saturn V rockets.
I thought the standard was "Statue of Liberty" for height, and "Rhode Islands" for area.

I believe this would fall under the "stuff that matters" part of the slogan.

Please look at history around the time of Teddy Roosevelt...this isn't based in historical reality.
