Well it's good to know someone has had better luck. Mine was a 5105 Satellite Limited edition. It had a Geforce 4 (mobile version) chip on it. That is what was overheating on mine. I got it in about 2002 Pentium 4 2GHz. It quit working for me in 2004; don't know how long you have had yours, but beware. I have asked other Toshiba owners, I have run into about this, and they seem to confirm it. There is a large MSN group called "Toshiba 5105 Display Problem" dealing with this issue that I have been a member of for about 2 years. The other day I went to radioshack with my friend who I recommend the Toshiba to to get a laptop cooling pad. I asked the Radioshack employee if they sold a lot of those to Toshiba owners, and he said "That's funny that you ask that because I got my uncle a Toshiba recently and he has tried a number of things to keep his laptop from powering off when it gets too hot, and has had to send it back to the manufacturer several times." There is nothing I can really do about it, except try to let people know not to buy Toshiba laptops. I have heard good things about IBM thinkpads, and HP laptops. I like Dell, but have heard some stories of those overheating as well.

The other day I went to radio with my friend who I recommend the Toshiba to to get a laptop cooling pad. I asked the Radioshack employee if they sold a lot of those to Toshiba owners, and he said "That's funny that you ask that because I got my uncle a Toshiba recently and he has tried a number of things to keep his laptop from powering off when it gets too hot, and has had to send it back to the manufacturer several times." Toshiba laptops are terrible and overheat all the time. I have a 3500 dollar brick sitting at my house that has an overheating graphics chip, and there is nothing I can do about it, because the warranty ran out. I recommended my friend buy a laptop before mine self destructed, and he has had to send his back to the manufacturer 3 times now for overheating problems. Pretty much everyone I have ever talked to who has owned a Toshiba has had this same problem. The worst part about this whole situation is that Toshiba is completely insensitive to this problem and refuses to acknowledge that it exists.
Did anyone ever play Asheron's Call on the all PK Darktide server? The main story didn't even matter, because you could PK anyone anywhere. Users created their own story. This was extremely fasinating as politics and economics emerged and it evolved as a lifelike system. To hunt in a dungeon, you would have to earn the right by taking it over with friends or solo. To control a town with the best prices, your guild would have to constantly defend it. Everyone is too scared to try these things and consequently all new MMORPGs suck! At least have one server that truely gives people freedom so the real players can play it. Everyone else can be content with simply fighting NPC's or some controled PK system that is just as redundant as doing the same quests over and over if you want to start a new char. Nothing has since compared to AC1 Darktide in terms of gameplay. The only reason I quit playing to try other things was graphics. Not a single MMO has held my interest anywhere near as long as AC did.

I think it could have been an alien missle of some kind.
