Anyone else live in a burgeoning "secondary" tech city?
San Jose. They're tearing down two-story buildings to put up four-story buildings and provide more space. Especially since Apple is developing 4.15 million square feet over the next 15 years in North San Jose.
You forget the scrubbing of the voter registration that is happening constantly - in which case, we're getting the government that the government thinks we deserve. Sound about right?
That goes back to not having enough people showing up to vote. Some countries require every eligible citizen to cast a vote or face a fine. If citizens got penalized for not voting, they would certainly keep an eye on the political process. With a 30% voter turnout in the US, no one cares.
If you were lead on a groundbreaking successful product and then asked to work on a pale imitation that only implemented a fraction of the first how would you feel about it?
If the powers to be at headquarters cancelled your project, reduced your staff to nothing, and threatening to bring you back to the East Coast, would you jump at the opportunity to start something new at a different company? That's what Dave Cutler did.
Unless you are, like, 8' 5", no, you are not taking care of your body.
If I didn't take care of my body, I would be in worse shape. Over the Internet, you see a number (350 pounds). What you don't see is the muscle mass that I've accumulated from going to the gym for over a decade. Even if eliminated every ounce of body fat, I will still be considered obese — just like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Walk 20 minutes? What the fuck? You should walk for like two hours a day to be healthy.
I'm quite busy during the week and 20 minutes is what I can shoehorn into my schedule.
Your workout sounds like crap.
That's because it works for me and not for you.
Can you run?
Only in the swimming pool.
If you cannot run 5-6 miles while jogging for an hour you're in a pretty bad shape.
Not without blowing out my knees. I don't want to end up like those skinny guys who are hobbling around after a knee replacement surgery because they played basketball too aggressively. As Clint Eastwood once said, "A man gotta know his limitations."
Maybe you're just an average douchebag, incapable of self-starting or learning on your own.
I made the president's list for maintaining a 4.0 GPA
Maintaining a healthy weight requires a similar level of self-discipline.
Although I'm 350 pounds, I do take care of my body. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I'm on a low-carb diet, walk 20 minutes per day during the week, work out at the gym on the gym, and get my flu shot every year. I haven't seen a doctor in 16 years because my only health issue I have is season allergies. I'm doing more than most "healthy weight" people do at all.
It wasn't until I was twelve until I learned the power of the if statement, and from there, I've been coding ever since.
I wasn't so fortunate. Sure, I had a Commodore 64, BASIC reference book and programming magazines. But I couldn't program beyond copying the examples I've seen. Key ideas — chiefly, order of operations — didn't fall into place until I took mathematics in college. A decade after I graduated from community college, and three years as being a software tester, I went back to learn computer programming and aced all my classes. I ended up going into IT support and using my programming knowledge to solve problems.
WTF has being a "sanctuary city" got to do with anything?
Take it up with the original poster — as I did.
Silicon Valley is definitely in the SF Bay Area also.
Right, but that wasn't my point. Whenever the news media or a movie has Silicon Valley as a focus, San Francisco is inevitably shown. If you watch "The Internship," San Francisco was a Google bike ride away from Silicon Valley. Most people outside of the SF Bay Area are surprised to discover that Silicon Valley and San Francisco are 50 miles apart. Born and raise in Silicon Valley, this has always been my pet peeve.
No, the confusion is between San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Area.
That's like claiming that Silicon Valley and San Francisco are the same place despite being 50 miles apart. They're not. Same region, yes. But not the same place. Not every place in California is a sanctuary city.
I'm having a hard time reasoning out how you relate the first part (reasons why candidates should win) to the second (claims that one candidate will win.)
You're misreading it. Both are reasons for why a candidate should win. One is emotional, one is analytical. Most people go with emotional arguments because it's easier to do. The analytical argument requires critical thinking, considering evidence and alternative viewpoints, and forming a fact-based opinion. It's easy to scream that Bernie/Clinton/Trump will win than argue that the numbers favors Clinton more strongly than either Bernie or Trump. That doesn't mean the numbers are perfect and Hillary will win by default. The 2016 elections could easily be a historical anomaly — or maybe not.
I had a scheduled job interview with Blue Coat when I got three job offers from other companies and went elsewhere two years ago. I wasn't aware that were such a shady outfit. I'm happy I didn't get a job with them.
I did a one-night IT job at a branch office of a financial institution to convert Token Ring to Ethernet in 2005. That was my first and last time that I ever saw Token Ring in the field. The building was brand new and wired for Ethernet, but the financial institution had coaxial cable installed. Never mind that all the workstations had Token Ring cards that could use twisted pair cabling to plug into the wall. I guess install coaxial cables was cheaper than buying new switches for twisted pair cabling. If you think COBOL is ancient, some financial institutions are probably still using Token Ring today.
That's because most people don't bother to vote. The 2014 election had the lowest national voter turnout in 72 years with 36% of registered voters casting a vote. A minority of citizens are deciding the government for the majority of citizens.
Most of my friends find news that reinforces their view of the world, never seeking out news that might challenge their viewpoints or require that they think. Take the 2016 election. There are plenty of emotional reasons to support Hillary, Bernie or Trump. But if you the analyze past elections, the 2008, 2012 and 2016 electoral maps, and fundraising capabilities, Hillary is going to win the White House with the least effort because all the numbers are in her favor.

Token-ring on coax? Don't think so.
Looked like coaxial. May have been Type 1 shielded twisted pair cable. That was my first and last time I dealt with Token Ring in the field.
That is probably why they want cameras at the on-ramps.
This is for more money for traffic control in the name of crime prevention? That figures.

The perps are likely on foot .
That should make them easier to spot when they climb the sound walls to get a shot at the freeway.
Oakland is where from people seeking sanctuary are coming from.
Hipsters are seeking sanctuary from San Francisco real estate prices by buying homes in Oakland.

The average citizen is well aware that their vote is meaningless.
Hence, they get the government that they deserve.
