Admittedly those people had committed crimes rather than been the victim, but it's really not that big a step.
That's not that big a step? I don't understand that statement at all. Our system isn't perfect, but it's a alot better than most, whether you believe in the death penalty or not.

I can give no URLs to back this up, but I can tell you what I've seen on TV and heard from my doctor. With laser surgery and radial caratonomy (sp?) the percentages aren't that great. If I remember right, it's like 20% get 20/20, 60% get better vision (not perfect, somewhere between their old vision and 20/20), and 20% get worse (!!) vision. The newest surgery is different. I can't recall what it's called, but they cut two slits in the corners and slide somewhat rigid rods into the cornea to reshape it. As it's fairly new, I haven't seen stats on the success rate of this surgery, but it's supposed to be high. It is also reversible. I was told that it was about $2000 or $3000 per eye, but I'm sure it will go down as it becomes more common...or is replaced by a better option.
True enough, but the person who didn't lock his car will be known as an idiot for quite awhile. I haven't seen any bad press about micros~1 and their software from this incident.
I never watched Joel either. Mike has been on since I began watching...no Comedy Central channel here (or cable net access!) Most of the time, MST3K has been funny as hell in my opinion...so if it was that much better before...damn...might be hard to concentrate on the show whilst rolling on the floor. I will miss it...I hope it keeps going somehow, but I doubt it. Now...where to find all the old video's that I've missed???
