I bought Q3A for Linux about 2 months ago, and probably 50% of the reason was so that I could play around with mods and level design. Since I have no Microsoft on my machine, I have been making do with the source release for windows, which will install and compile mods under wine - but this should make life much easier. This is the same kind of value and support which loki are quickly gaining a reputation for. They certainly deserve success, and your support (ie your money).
Oh, and BTW - if you're still using glx instead of Xfree4.0 with DRI for Q3A.. SWITCH NOW. You'll be glad you did...
The twin vector processing unit is very similar to the design of the Sega Saturn from what I can recall.
Unfortunately, SEGA didn't have as much money (and hype) as SONY do now to throw at developers and make them put up with the extremely difficult development system (another similarity to the saturn, so I'm led to believe) until the 3rd generation. Maybe the developers'll stick it out till then, or maybe they'll just be lazy and port their latest PC title to Dreamcast and make that money a bit easier. I hope they'll do both. Time will tell.
Before the DOJ case, Microsoft single handedly invented Operating Systems, Graphical User Interfaces, Word Processing and the Internet !! The DOJ is holding back this immensely innovative company from inventing Virtual Reality, Embedded systems and on-demand streaming media. If they don't lay off soon somebody else might think of it first !!
Any artist stupid enough to sign with SONY deserve everything they get (including all the money). I, personally, have Open Sourced all my music and plan to make money by selling support for it...
...the more music with liberal distribution rights will flourish.
I for one welcome these restrictions. I don't think it should be _easy_ or _cheap_ to listen to someone like Celine Dion. Masochism is no fun if you don't have to work for it...

Free music is the way to go. Who cares if I can't hear Celene Dion or Mariah Carey ?? The problem here is that people are whining "I won't be able to hear my favourite artist on mp3 because the RIAA wants to protect their work by using proprietary music encoding". Well guess what ? Don't listen. If the artist you enjoy won't release their work in the format you desire, why are you still listening ? The sad fact is that the person who owns the copyright gets to decide on the method of distribution and they mostly choose the kind which will squeeze the most money out of you. If you really want to hear certain artists or certain songs which are only available under this new format, well then you've got to play their game and shell out the money for the appropriate equipment and downloads. Just like if you want to run Microsoft Word. Otherwise - find an alternative. Support the musicians that acknowledge that you have rights as music consumers. If you download a song and store it using your resources IT'S YOUR SONG. Same as GNU is your software. It's darwinism, folks. The formats you support are the ones which will survive. If you don't take any shit, it's much less likely they'll try and give you any.
If the penguins do fall over, are they going to run the results of their reasearch through ksymoops to find out why ?
I believe the official slashdotian position on this subject has already been handed down by Alan Cox. :-)
To paraphrase : "WAP Sucks".

Well, here's _my_ new vision statement:
"I'm going to make applications which run only at the north pole next tuesday at 11am on a 386."
Duh.
Vision indeed...

I was going to write something simillar and call it 'The Female UNIX' but Germaine Greer's lawyers would probably not be happy...
