Yep, and honestly if you've never see the night sky with minimal/no light pollution then you owe it to yourself to make the effort. It's a spectacular sight.
It might be different if the proposal were to include bands for vehicles based on fuel consumption or emissions, with higher per mile charges for inefficient vehicles.
Gee, do you think they might have thought of doing that...?
If you can do space things without putting people inside the tin cans everything suddenly becomes an order of magnitude cheaper/easier.
These days we can do everything with VR/telepresence/whatever. No need to send humans. Ten years is practical if you can keep the bureaucrats in check.
America continually changing their story on how he died and dumping the body at sea as fast as possible before anybody could see it won't help how history sees this.
At the moment though, he's right. The American mentality is hard for the rest of the world to understand but "killing the bad guy" had people out on the streets firing guns in the air this week. Even Scott Adams blogged about how good it made him feel.
Sad really, but all too true (as the GP pointed out).
Next step is to make it illegal to turn off your phone (in case the President has anything to say).
After that the 'freedom from terror' tracking system is fully enabled...with automated speech recognition enabled on all calls.

So he's right then...Northerners can see it just fine.
It's *very* easy to see the Milky Way here in Spain... ...if you go out into the country.
In the city? Not so much.
If a BIOS has (eg.) CPU power management functions in it; the CPU needs to follow the instructions from the BIOS.
Terrorists can still take over 'planes? I thought they fixed the cabin doors...
(All that other TSA strip-search stuff is a waste of time...)
Can you use LiPo batteries in cars? I thought they exploded if you rupture them.
You can fill up the gas tank in about a minute. You cant really do that with a battery pack.
For a race car you could use ultracapacitors instead of batteries. How much current can your charge cable handle...?
Good luck 'billing' somebody for the assembly language bump mapping demo...
Looks like they finally got around to fixing the fortune database...
Imagine a room where a band is playing. Neighbors can't hear the music, but if someone outside the room is talking, the musicians can hear it.
They can't be a very good band if they can hear somebody talking in the next room while they're playing...
Yeah, but it's a good one...
An honor based system?
I dunno... there's something about automobiles that makes normally respectable people throw 'honor' out the window.
taxing by the mile removes the incentive for fuel efficiency.
...unless they have different tax bands for different cars.
It might be different if the proposal were to include bands for vehicles based on fuel consumption or emissions, with higher per mile charges for inefficient vehicles.
Gee, do you think they might have thought of doing that...?
For a gas tax, you basically just set the rate and forget it (with a little monitoring to ensure compliance).
True, but pretty soon a lot of people will be "filling up" their electric cars at home so a gas tax won't work.
And yet, anyone who drives on a tollway already does this.
Converting every road in America into a toll road with a toll booth at every person's driveway won't be easy. Anything less won't work.
C'mon, he hasn't even started a war yet? What kind of weakling can't even start a war after two years?
I'm sure they can manage to charge differently for different vehicles. They already do it for road tax, etc.
Nope, this WILL happen.
The reason is that as electric cars appear, people will start "filling up" at home and a major source of tax revenue (gasoline) will be lost.

Um, maybe the developer uses a Droid X for development work.
That would explain quite a lot actually...

How can you tell if they're working or not?
If the malware is subverting ZoneAlarm (easy enough to do) then your sense of security could be completely false.
The ONLY way to spot unwanted outgoing connections is with a device external to your PC (eg. another PC on the same subnet running a packet sniffer).
Yeah...but it means Justin Beiber takes over as the most hated man alive. Do you really want that...?
(nb. I use the word 'man' in the anthropological sense of the word)
