Don't forget the sheep factor. Everybody wants what everyone else has (ipod, anyone?). Modern people don't have time to research, especially technology. I try to talk people into switching to FF when I fix their boxes, but I often get the fear response....
The numbers just show that the experimenters, early adopters and product researching types have made their choice. The numbers will change once FF and the others get the "cool for everybody" flag.
Basic knowledge should be a part of any interview process. A local ISP hits its help-desk applicants with an abstract question about purple bunnies, to check their ability to pay attention and reason in an unknown framework. My current job was interested in both my skills and my ability to join their team; this is a sign of a good employer. BTW, I got the job with no certs or degree yet.
....Starring Tobey Maguire as Ender, with Jessica Alba as Petra...The plot's emotional center being Ender's conflict of exploring his newfound love for Petra while at the same time becoming mankind's last hope for survival... Special appearance by Snoop Dogg as Mazer Rackham...
I was so happy to get my paper route when I was a kid, that it took me two weeks to realize that I was getting charged for the extra papers that I didn't use..two months later, they still kept giving me extra copies, no matter what my complaints.
This taught me a lesson. When they refuse to stop screwing you, then screw back! After almost three months of delivering with NO profit, I made my collections, called my contact to tell him that I was moving away, and bought myself a new bike that never delivered another paper again. (And as long as the advertisements packed into a paper weigh more than the news, I'll never buy another newspaper, either!)
I agree, just disable the .dll and have done with it.
But how do I tell that to my users at work, most of which can't wait to upload and view all of their Christmas pix?
Believe me, this won't float around here. I'm hosed either way.
