  1. Squeak on Multi-Platform App Created Using Single Code Base · · Score: 1

If you really want cross platform and variable display resolution, look at Squeak Smalltalk, an open source implementation of Smalltalk that is the balm and can, in fact, run cross platform on any device for which a c compilier is available. There are several forks, one of which, Pharo, is targeted at commercial developers.

"Major computing platforms supported include most versions of Windows including CE/PocketPC, MacOS, Linux/Unix, OS/2 Warp, Acorn RiscOS, and even a bare chip (the Mitsubishi M32R/D)."

Why do you think a new third party would be any different that the two we have now (USA)? They are both third parties you know. The solution is active involvement and participation in the process, which is difficult and costs money.

Take the time you spend complaining about something and write a letter or spend a weekend at Wal-Mart and register people to vote.

Remember, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the ... never mind.

Offtopic perhaps, but, in the interest of fair and balanced reporting >> http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/53802.html. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac played a role, but there is much more to the mortgage meltdown than what is spun out in the parents reference. In the absense of the other bad actors the actions of FM2 would not have precipitated the crisis. -M-

    >>Except for the fact that, at least in the US, no one without a plane ticket is allowed to pass through the security gates.

When I travel in the US I often have a 'ticket' that was sent to me via email, that I printed out on whatever printer was available at the time. How hard is that to forge.

When I pick up my children or mother at the gate, I get a pass from the airline to get to the gate. How hard is that situation to social engineer?

I think that the probability of someone getting past screening for nefarious purposes is pretty high.

Personalized Advertising! Inserting consumer specific advertising directly into programming(shows) via real time animation. Modifying programming on the fly to "speak" directly to the consumer. This is going to get real interesting when long haul truckers start getting on board.

In fact, given the density of truck traffic in most urban areas, truckers could become the last mile provider of choice for a whole new sub-culture.
