I think Barbara Boxer was pretty dead-up right-on when she suggested that human status begins when the baby heads home from the hospital. Real bright woman there.

So you made 60k and paid more than 20k in taxes? Bull Shit. Ignoring any deductions or personal exeptions, you'd pay 10% on the first 7k ($700), 15% on the tier between 7k and 28,400 ($3210), and 25% on the portion between 28,400 and your 60k ($7085). That's a total of about 11,000. Now, take off your personal exemption of $3100 and your $4850 standard deduction from the margin, and that shaves (3100 + 4850) * .25 off your tax bill = $1987.50. So, your tax burden would be more in the neighborhood of $9k. I'm trying to figure out how tax-cuts tax.

Yes, the risk to them as a corporation is that the term "legos" will become commonplace among consumers, and competitors will be allowed to use the term to describe their own products. Rollerblade guards its brandname equally diligently by reminding customers with a dedicated marketing campaign that using the term "rollerblading" as a verb is not correct.

Well, for the retirement savings, assuming your wife has any earned income at all, you'll be able to save 5 grand to each of the ROTH IRAs you'll probably open up soon (limit increased to 5k for '05). Short of the portion of 401k that is matched, a ROTH IRA is the best retirement savings vehicle available to Americans.

My assistance to family members now consists of a single CD/DVD that boots to Ghost and automatically reimages their system to a pristine state. They're instructed to save their data files to another partition that isn't hosed during the Ghost operation. I'm just not dealing with it any more.
