>I pray that they don't force us to watch dubed material. >But, with region codes, and whatnot. This may be the way they go.
I don't want to sound insulting but from this comment I have to assume that you have not watched any anime on DVD. =)
I think that the publishers have understood for quite a while that many of us prefer our anime subbed. They understand it very well actually, and know that we will even pay more for subbed than dubbed which is why you often see tapes with prices like $20 for dub and $25 for sub. Someone else noted in another post that DVD is perfect for multi-language videos so any publisher would have to insane to NOT put both English and Japanese audio on there. Less production costs (1 DVD as opposed to 2 seperate VHSs) means higher profits and dub+sub both on one disk means more happy customers. As an added benefit to the sub people we can then show dub people the differnce between sub and dub too. =P
Nothing really, It's just that these people who grew up on Micky Mouse and Bugs Bunny are aghast at the concept of using animated characters for something other than children's entertainment and then they apply that mindset to whatever they happen to be butchering at the moment. I'm sure that some of the "content approvers" or whatever nice name the censors get are horrified that breasts could be in a cartoon much less used for humorous purposes. This could be the beginning of a nice censorship rant but the reasoning is probably something along the lines of the American TV producers dont want any possibly objectionable material in their "product" so that it appeals to the broadest market/audience and makes them the most money. They probably went back and aired previously cut episodes so they could go running around screaming about new Pokemon episodes and make more money.
Is this the phenomenon also known as tunneling? I know next to nothing about QM so dont laugh too hard at me when I get something completely wrong. IIRC the chance of tunneling occuring drops drasticly as the distance it is to tunnel increases. I think that in theory there is the chance of a given particle tunneling huge distances but the chance is so incredibly small as to be worthless.
Could you explain anything I may have wrong and/or point me to a place where I can get info on this that you dont have to be a quantum mechanical scientist to understand?

So let me get this straight, we're all people who find stuff?
If they're filling up warehouses full of models of inventions why not destroy/return/eat/copulate with(I'm being nice)/whatever the things once they're done reviewing it?
(Or perhaps I'm lacking the mythical clue and you're talking about warehouses full of unreviewed models?)
Looking at past development versions I see: (Ignore stupid typo or date calculations, I got this info from looking at the dates on kernels from kernel.org so I could be wrong)
1.1.13 - May 22 1994 (cant find a 1.1.0 so I'm guessing its about mid-april or there abouts) 1.1.95 - Mar 1 1995 time elapsed: ~11 months
1.3.0 --- Jun 11 1995 1.3.100 - May 9 1996 time elapsed: ~11 months
2.1.0 --- Sep 30 1996 2.1.132 - Dec 22 1998 time elapsed: ~27 months
2.3.0 -- May 11 1999 2.3.51 - Mar 10 2000 time elapsed: ~10 months
So we've run about the typical time elapsed between dev kernel versions but the current kernel version is half that of normal so it makes me wonder if we're ready yet.

If they walked around naked would they be invisible too? Well, at least to the people who havent enabled viewing of pornographic material. Stupid topics like this are the most fun aren't they?
Actually we're being paranoid because of the 'obvious' use for this. Certainly there are fair uses and intended uses for all products but some uses seem more obvious to certain crowds. Compare the/. people being paranoid about this all the way encryption and other measures that we feel deprive us of rights to the MPAA/RIAA people being paranoid about DeCSS/MP3/Napster depriving them of their what they feel is their property and their rights to it. The corporate management is saying "Those damn kids are trying to steal our music/movies!" and the slashdot people are saying "Those damn corporations are trying to steal our rights!"
I'm not trying to defend the MPAA/RIAA but in any arguement there are at least 2 points of view after all.
If I understand this VLIW, code morphing, and other Transmeta stuff correctly then most of the chip's subroutines which could do things like trap the BSOD and other tricks are implimented in the software. So if you dont need stuff like that in your processor running a Linux box it doesnt have to be there. They could make a VLIW instruction set to do all sorts of Linux optimized stuff as well as Windows optimized stuff and optimized stuff.
Zombie sites are, unless I'm mistaken (which I may well be), boxes that were cracked by the people launching the DDoS attacks. The cracked boxes (the "zombies") are then used to launch the DoS attacks or used to relay to other boxes and further obscure the path to the crackers.
oh, I forgot, this is the Internet, you have to very carefully point out what you mean by a statement unless you want someone to misinterpret it. My point was that they tend to act like experts on any given subjects even though most of them are just reading the stuff some writer gave to them. I shudder to think of what George Bush or whoever would write. I think I'll also say, "good for you." It's not like it takes that much energy to drive to a polling station. I happen to also be an american and a voter, because I want my complaints to be heard in a more influential way than blowing hot air. Any one can complain about whatver they want, it might not get anything done but they can still complain.
show me a politician who can write a program in any decent language and he/she/it has my vote. I doubt that vast majority of them can even use windows well much less anything else more advanced than a telephone... They make promises now and it doesn't matter if they're broken later, once they are in office the chance of them being re-elected rises dramatically unless they make some _major_ mistake. well, I may be overly critical but they are supposed to be our representatives after all so if you dont push for someone that is exactly the way you want them (issues, intelligence, the ability to do anything with out huge amounts of lackeys/PR, SomeQualityIwantInMyCanidate, etc...) then they arent going to represent you as well as you wanted them to.
