  1. Archive.org on Google's Cache Ruled Fair Use · · Score: 1, Insightful

Google wasn't really copying as much as they were archiving the past... Look at Archive.org's way back machine. Same principal.

  2. Simple Setup on Ultimate Software Developer Setup? · · Score: -1

My current development configuration is as follows:

    • ATI Radeon 9500 Dual Head
    • Dual 19" Samsung SyncMaster 955
    • Ubuntu Linux
    • Zend Development Suite
    • Mozilla Firefox

I am a PHP developer, so my needs are a stable OS, a minor software investment, and dual displays. (code one one, see code output in other)

  3. -Blocked Site- on Taking My Freedom With Me to China? · · Score: 1, Insightful

Unfortunately, you will likely get few responses from anyone in China, as Slashdot is a news site, and news sites are forbidden.

Let all reclaim the lost inches of desk space!

I have always pulled my desks out from the wall to help occomodate the large footprint of my monitors. Perhaps in two years I can upgrade to a nice 21" slim CRT and actually have my desks against the wall.

Does anyone know of actual footprint sizes yet?

  5. Moving Forward on Private Spaceflight Law Shot Down · · Score: 2, Interesting

I would really like to see the private space industry open up. Hopefully the bill that does get passed isn't too restrictive for new private companies looking into the space industry. Governments should do what they can to promote private sector growth in the space industry, not stifle it. New startups in the space industry could spark a whole new economic boom, and if not an economic boom, at least the start of a new revolution. Call me optimistic, but these are simply my views.
