This logic doesn't work. If Adobe believed this, they could most easily release a Personal Learning Edition, like Maya, or AVID Free-type software. Adobe's trial version of Photoshop lasts for 30 days, which gives a good amount of time to get hooked on the product. Other than those 30 days, though, I don't think Adobe appreciates people "learning it" with illegal software. If they did, they would make it legal.
It makes me upset that so many people have pirated copies of Photoshop here in the college dorms. I would love a copy, just like everyone else and their brother already has, but I also prize integrity.
The person still violates the law, they just do not get punished for the violation. It is not that a law was not violated, but rather, that justice did not come to that person. They simply avoided the legal results of their actions.
The article had good evidence to counter this view, though. Why would the head of Sony show up to try to sell HD consumer cameras? I would imagine he has better things to do in other areas, such as selling Walkmans tape players.

So he can try to get out of it, or so he cannot get out of it. One just needs to post guards outside the vault.
