  1. Google No Longer Accessible From Work on Microsoft's Answer to Google Base · · Score: 0, Offtopic

Off-Topic but I have no kharma right now.

I can no longer access Google (www.google.com) from work.

The company filters websites it finds objectional (including Yahoo and Google email, but not my DSL Extreme email. Go figure.) They just laid a block on the www.google.com domain, but NOT Google Maps, Google News, and as it turns out, Google Base.

I guess Google Cache got to be a problem. (Sigh.)

I always thought that .NET (in fact, the whole business model for MS) was to migrate to a subscription based service.

The thin client model lends itself to this.

I don't blame the MPAA one bit for going after thieves for distributing a pre-release copy.

HiJack This, Spybot, and AdAware, along with msconfig screening, and registry repair, mass deletions of practically "toolbar" and "search" package in the "Program Files" directory, Google Search of ANY suspect process, and hours of my time, and I can usually clean off most of the crap that people unwittingly install on their PC's.

Then I install Firefox and set as default, install Google Toolbar in IE, block every pop-up in sight, and recommend that they buy a router. That usually does the trick.

This is just a smart business move for Microsoft. Offer a coustm, made to suit version of the OS to their critical customers.
