You do realize how the whole artist/record company situation works, right?
A record company goes to an artitst and buys the rights to their work, lets say an album. They buy the rights for a one time sum, and the royalties the artist gets from the sale of his work is pretty much just a token amount. So the "poor exploited, artists" already have compensation for their hard work. Its the record company that is being screwed.
