    Well, I live an a urban area (and not in NY) because I hate cars. I picked my house so it easy walking distance to shops, transit, schools. Nice to be able to walk home when I've had a few too many beers at the bar. Of course, for work I work on my computer at home.

    I wonder if you could use XMPP (Jabber) to monitor devices. Each device connects to the server like a person IMing. It can easily send a message when something bad/good happens. You can have a roster (buddy list) of the devices you want to monitor.

    The man page says this:

    -f Force unmount (in case of an unreachable NFS system). (Requires kernel 2.1.116 or later.)

    But I've seen cases when I can't unmount a CD-ROM.
    (No pending writes). Just because somebody had cd-ed to a directory in the CD-ROM. This is Linux.

    I agree with the guy who started this thread, when you ask to unmount something it should unmount.

    Sure, there are nice ways to improve the chat logs.
    Right now they are just:

    User: stuff
    User2: stuff

    There is no idea of a conversation. Also they might be a 2 day gap between items in the log and this isn't shown graphically. A smart searcher could see who started the conversation. How long it was. Who you talk to most (yukes privacy). Of course, understand emoticons and other short forms. Would be cool and useful. CU.

    I looked for "computer store" (and similar words) in "Toronto, ON" and it found nothing in the Toronto computer getto at College and Spadina. There are dozens of stores there. Maybe they should have got some people to know Canada to try this before going beta.

    The Green Party isn't left leaning. They are free enterprise until it hurts somebody else. ie run your business they way you want but once you begin poluting then its everyone's business and you need to stop or be taxed liek mad. A view I agree with.
