  1. Generally the same on Integrating OSS Graphics Apps · · Score: 1
Most GUI/UIs that I use and have used have been presented to me in the same manner. Buttons, check boxes, text fields, and the etc all generally appear the same. So what if they have a slightly different appearance or placement, the application designer is in charge of that, not some silly standard.

Some things need standardization, others should have it, and then there are things that shouldn't be standardized simply because it isn't necesary in the least bit. If you want to use a program, you will learn how the UI interacts no matter how abstract it is.

  2. DS Net? on Nintendo to Counter PSP Media Features · · Score: 3, Insightful
Since the DS has wireless networking...how long until we see internet capabilies and browser software on this thing? Sure the screen is a bit small for a page to look correct, but it would be suitable able to read news articles or messageboards on it. I guess you could use a text only browser line lynx to make it readable for blogs/news. Maybe even a POP3 email client for on the go email? The touchscreen would make a good way to emulate mouse input. With some cities planning free wireless hotspots, could this be a reality?

Is this even possible on the DS or am I way out there on this one?
I know that this would be the number one selling point for me if this became reality. It would be really convient to have a device that had the great gaming library from Nintendo, music, movies, and slashdot.

"you're pushing it there a bit."

Actually, this computer is faster and now more responsive than the PII 450 mhz with 256mb sdram chugging along in the other room, and thats running a fresh install of Windows 2000. I know that PPC architecture is faster than x86 architecture, but in comparason, running a 5 year old OS [2000] vs. one that still gets updated to this date [OSX], Apple takes the cake on this one.

Not bad for a $100 investment in an iMac.

  4. I use Panther and... on Apple Offers Mac OS X 10.3.7 Update · · Score: 5, Interesting
this update (10.3.7) seems to have made my old iMac G3 respond faster than before. It seems to draw just a bit faster as well, making my experience with OSX much better. Before 10.3, OSX was extremely laggy on my 400mhz (G3) 128mb ram hardware.

With performance increases like this, OSX seems to just be getting better - good work Apple.

  5. Re:looks like it still sucks as bad on Half-Life 2 Under Linux Review · · Score: 1

Computer games can be more buggy becuase they have the option to release a patch for anything thats wrong with the game...with a console system, this just doesn't happen. Therefore computer games seem to be of lesser quality. Lets hope that console systems do not start using a patch system or all games will be released with bugs that were not fixed before the develop freeze.

There many Open Source OSs that dont gain widespread acceptance.
Linux, is still one of them. Although is is more widely accepted than OpenBSD

Dont push it too far Microsoft...

But in all seriousness, this application is just what Halo 2 needs...I remember when Perfect Dark for Nintendo 64 came out with it's stat tracking abilities, I spent hours getting my stats higher than all my friends. Now I can do the same thing and get bragging rights to my wins!

Next we just need support for other spreadsheats than Excel. Maybe we can track stats with a MySQL server someday?

    Red Alert 2

    Why?
    -Great playability
    -Balanced units
-Many different ways to wrek havok on the enemy
    -Great graphics
-Last good C&C game on the market
-Awesome network play! Best multiplayer RTS I've played

I would also recommend getting the expansion pack Yuri's Revenge as it adds more single player missions and a whole new race.

  9. 2D to 3D on New Command & Conquer Game In Development · · Score: 1

Red Alert 2 was the last good game in the series. Generals wasn't anything special, so I don't see this game being much better. It almost seems that whenever a game series goes from a 2D engine to a 3D engine, it's just not as good.
