Not trolling, just curious... if landing on an asteroid is difficult at best*, and the chances of the asteroid moving in the direction of your ship's travels are slim to none, how does going out of your way to land at a "docking station" that is moving you further out of your way to get some resources beneficial? Won't restocking the personnel or supplies on any asteroid "mining station" eat up more resources and money than they can ever harvest?
* kind of like playing 'quarters' by hitting a cup racing past on the back of a flatbed
I would love to see more vampire analogies here on Slashdot. Now, if someone combines a vampire analogy with a car analogy I believe we'll have reached 'analogy panacea'.
They can claim security and stability (which are valid points), but it all comes down to money.
And maybe a touch of sour grapes. Adobe treated Apple like a second class platform back in the 90's when Apple was at its weakest. Now that Apple is on top of this market I think Steve Jobs is handing out a little payback. Loyalty, or the lack of it, is hard to forget.
... then surely Adobe can do it. It's probably because Foxit is bigger and able to reassign resources better than Adobe... oh wait... how did Foxit beat Adobe on this fix?
Q: What specifically is better about the Apple Macintosh?
A: It comes with a license to be smug and sanctimonious.
Don't forget about the decoder ring that allows us to conjure up the spirit of Obi Wan, um, Steve Jobs at a moment's notice. It's like a mood ring, only that our mood is always Steve Jobs!
Dr. Daly believes the only way to continue to make great strides in computing performance is to... offload some of the work onto GPU's that his company just happens to make? [Arte Johnson] Very interesting.
The industry has moved away from "more horsepower than you'll ever need!" to "uses less power than you can ever imagine!" Perpetuating Moore's Law isn't an industry requirement, it's a prediction by a guy who was in the chip industry.
All it takes is one juror who thinks they are "smarter" than the rest, or who can "remain objective" when they peek at the forbidden fruit, or who wants to play Matlock, to set the clock back and send this to a 3rd trial.
Does this set a precedent? Maybe. But court records are sealed all the time, so a temporary lockdown isn't anything new.
online access to information about a civil case locked up on the court website for the duration of a retrial
Only for the duration of the retrial. Surely people have other things to lookup on the internet besides this case while this is being retried, don't they?
almost no one burns oil for electricity anymore, they burn coal. i don't know why all the fucktards above are talking about oil spills. it's not related.
The more renewable electricity energy available then the cheaper it will be to charge an electric car. Less gasoline cars = less oil used. Lower oil requirements translates to lower possibilities of oil spills. At least, that's how I interpret their optimism. I certainly hope they are right.
I makes me sick to think that only accidents and toxic spills are motivating factors to business and governments, but let's make the most out of this if it can benefit "mother earth" in the long run.
This is exciting. The knowledge contained within this crater will feed millions and advance the knowledge nessesary for the survival of the Human Race by many years, and reveal the secrets of oil spill clean up as an added bonus!
Um, not exactly. Though the discoveries made there could free the minds of millions of people and entice some of the brightest people on the planet to focus their talents on space sciences. Surely that has some value, too.
That's worse than the DOS 5.0 upgrade 'Rap'. It was just painful to watch. If that's what Windows does to a person it should come with a Surgeon General's warning label.
Not's not quite a write once, run everywhere type solution, but does work well when using a library like jQtouch.
What other platform supports "write once, run everywhere"? Java? Not even HTML/Javascript/CSS runs properly in all browsers if you use even a little bit of "DOM" without accounting for IE/FF/Safari/Chrome/Etc differences.

Such a prospect assumes that there exists Canadian IP that is worth protecting.
Isn't William Shatner worth protecting?
But is it as cheesy as the Moon?
Wouldn't that be "Another Stab At a Canadian DMC'eh?"
More websites that look like ransom notes.
Dont you mean "conditional requests for donations"?
Apparently at least one sans serif font.

I wonder if this is a Mac issue or if IPv6 just isn't proper;y supported "out in the wild" yet? TFA doesn't mention a Windows test.
Purchased Before March 16, 2010? Doesn't that exclude, like, almost all purchases of Sun hardware?

There are some who believe the iPad idea was stolen from Alan Kay, so I guess anything is possible.

The remains of a sperm whale and a bowl of petunias in the bottom of Endeavor crater would certainly create some interest.
Someone give this man a cigar ... and quick. I'd hate for the Inprobability Drive to turn it into something that Freud wouldn't be so approving of.

The Apple IIc commercial used a little bit of "fear" ... and it looked like most of the bad MTV videos that featured kids in school.
I'm not sure which one I laughed at more, the MS-DOS 5.0 upgrade or Steve Balmer mocking himself while pitching Windows 1.0.

The Facebook page attracted more than 1,200 fans in one week.
Fans != applicants ... unless FB has changed the meaning of "like" yet again ;-)
