I saw the movie a couple days ago and found it to be extremely annoying, starting from the dolphin song, and lasting throughout. There were some good parts but overall it was not that great, even having read the book (and everyone I know how saw it without having read the book hated it).
Why make a sequal? Unless you replace the cast with people who can act...
The real question is when where there be G5 power books. I've heard that it will be several months to a year or so, since they can't really get it working right.
Worker: Hey! I could have thought of that... hell, the wife makes one every Tuesday... DENIED.
Patent comes in for a new "technology." A Web site will have a box labeled Username and one labeled Password, and a Submit button that logs on the user to the Web sites system.
Worker: That sounds complex about computer web site things. Must be some new technology. APPROVED.
Yes, but if there is a BABY blind from birth they can give them these artificial eyes, and let them see *from birth*. Yes, it won't help people who are already older and blind from birth, but in the future there is a potential of no one ever being blind, is there not?
List of devices that will work with iSync?

I want to get a power book as soon as tiger comes out on them (probably not for a few months, regardless). Is there some way to find out what devices are supported, so I can make sure to get a cellphone that is? Also, if i got a cell phone with a 128 meg card like this one (motorola E398), will I be able to back up many of my text documents (as in almost all of them, up to the storage capacity) using iSync to the phone, or just contact info?
Sorry for not reading all about it. I checked out the screenshots and read the basics. My question is, will this eventually be free, and what's the ETC (estimated time of completion) on this project?
An MMORPG that knocks you out by electric shock and steals your clothes and jewelry, etc. when you die in-game? Realism isn't always a *good* thing. I would prefer not to be shocked while playing Counter-Strike, please.
I guess our running out of fuel in the future won't be the end of the world.. there are always sources of energy, perhaps not as easily attainable but nonetheless viable.
However, what about certain plastics, etc. that we need, that are made from oil? Perhaps we should start moving towards alternative energy now, and save the fuel for what we need it for?
I am by no means an expert, so please let me know if I'm way off base here.
"VeriSign's clumsy, unilateral attempt to hijack the DNS space through its SiteFinder wildcard service (and its goofy FUD-filled management statements since) proves that profiteering decisions can -- and do -- endanger the Internet more than any hacker or computer attack. It also proves once again that the Internet community -- ISPs, developers, engineers, and other experts -- can come together to effectively and quickly counter corporate, not just criminal, attacks on the network infrastructure - and we owe them our thanks."
Why don't they get that diversity is a *Good* thing? Switch it up every few years, to keep these guys on their toes and not let them get too comfortable/corrupt.
Good thing I posted "[this] really is news for nerds" and not "this *isn't* news for nerds," as you claimed. Maybe your reading skills are on the fritz?
Personally, I have to chuckle every time someone like you says something utterly irrelevant and makes yourself look dumb. Then I fly into a fit of rage, but that's just my problem...:)
I'm not saying it's not "news for nerds." I'm saying that it *really* is!
The "nerd" stereotype of sitting alone in the cafeteria reading comic books before leaving school early to wait in line for the Star Trek convention.
I just think it's funny. When I first came here I thought it would be all about tech. / science news, but it's always sprinkled with this stuff. Just wanted to point it out and see what people thought.
I come here for science and technology news, and always chuckle when I see an article about some Star Trek/comic book/etc. development that I know nothing about.
Am I not a real "nerd" or something?
(Sorry for flambait, but I can't help it. Seeing so many of these recently, i.e. "Star Wars Episode III Commercial on The OC!" et al).
I'd like to see an open source, "simpler" version of java as an option in FireFox. Currently, I don't have java installed because there are exploits for it (for example, java allows websites to exploit IE even if the user is using another browser, such as FireFox or opera). I don't really need it for anything, either, but I'd use a stripped down version. It just seems too bloated now, for the uses.
I know getting into the IRS is already pretty bad, but what about other government agencies (FBI, CIA) or the military? I know in many cases they are on seperate networks, but in the cases where it's possible to get in...
It would appear that they are more savvy, and receive more training, but who knows?
"...I bet that if the Auditors increased the sophistication of their ruse, that they would actually increase the amount who fell for it."
You think? Of course, the more "sophisticated the ruse" is, the more people will fall for it. That's what worries me. If 30% fall for this, then what about the key employee who will be tricked by a deceptive criminal who is focusing all his attention on tricking that one person?
Well, that's the type of statistics meddling that's used all over the place. Unless it's blatantly false, then it's OK, as your competitors will be doing the same to hurt you / help them.
It seems like this is becoming necessary (well, maybe not fiddling, but at least adding additional support for certain applications).
For example, Half-Life 2 is a very popular game. If nVidia starts messing with their drivers to run HL2 better, but ATI does not, then guess who HL2 fans are going to buy from?
I know -- the case mentioned in this article is completely different and not a useful change -- but it just got me thinking about past occurances.
It seems like drivers for GPUs should be able to run well in general, and applications should be catered to them, rather than the other way around, but I guess it's just not a viable option.
I wish they had done this a while ago. I've stuck by Windows long enough! I'm staying with alternative browsers from now on (like FireFox), and may even move to another OS.
Is this just about the registration link that sometimes shows up on Google.com? If so, I posted an article about that about a week ago, it was rejected!
I've been using GMail as my primary email since it first came out into beta. I love it. I just hope now that it's opening to the general public, they don't take away features (such as POP3, forwarding, etc.)!

This guy already knew the liqour store. He posted the question as anon coward so he could be quick and have a funny response, I bet.

Silly MSFT... I really wish they would play by the rules a bit more, and not fight everything tooth and nail. It really makes them look bad!

Sounds like a good idea to you?
Well, you're not a writer. Hard enough to make a living already, without giving it away for free.

Get rid of all the consoles and stuff that java installs, and just give the basics that it needs to function.
