They cry in the dark, so you can't see their tears They hide in the light, so you can't see their fears Forgive and forget, all the while Love and pain become one and the same In the eyes of a wounded child Because Hell Hell Is For Children And you know that their little lives can become such a mess Hell Hell Is For Children And you shouldn't have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh It's all so confusing, this brutal abusing They blacken your eyes, and then apologize Be daddy's good girl, and don't tell mommy a thing Be a good little boy, and you'll get a new toy Tell grandma you fell off the swing

The movie is The Last Mimzy, not The Last Mizmey. The story it is based on is Mimsy Were the Borogoves, the title taken from a line in Jabberwocky by Lewis Carol, as far as I know.

(From space shuttle above the Earth) Homer: It's beautiful. It's the most awe-inspiring sight I have ever seen. Giver of life, mother of us all...hey guys, look what I smuggled aboard! [shows a bag of chips] Buzz Aldrin: Homer, no! [Homer breaks open bag; chips fly everywhere] Race Banyon: They'll clog the instruments! Buzz: Careful! They're ruffled! Homer: I'll handle this! [Homer floats around the cabin, eating chips to The Blue Danube - an obvious reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey]

I think you're mischaracterizing this. It seems to me that this was a school function, at least from reading the CNN version. "They had been let out of classes and were accompanied by their teachers." It was like a field trip, and they probably went back to class afterward. I wish the article made it more clear. It seems to me they have the power to enforce the general school rules of no acting up and no goofing off in place of the parents. If this were the weekend or holiday I would agree 100 per cent with you.

Damn, you beat me to it. In the book (from 1979 or 80) the future of 1998 is dying, and we have to send a message back in time to warn our past selves. This involves firing a tachyon beam into space where past Earth was. It will interfere with a physics experiment in 1962. One of the problem with transmitting a message back in time to 1962 is that the scientist doesn't know that he has a reciever. He wonders about the strange interference plaguing his data. Of course there is a big build up, but the ending sucks. It sucks hard.

  8. worth repeating my orgininal comment on When Stallman is Attacked · · Score: 1
He aims to impose new restrictions on IBM and any other tech firm that distributes software using even a single line of Linux code. They would be forbidden from using Linux software to block users from infringing on copyright and intellectual-property rights ("digital rights management"); and they would be barred from suing over alleged patent infringements related to Linux.
No, that's what copyright law is for. DRM is about control, and vendor lock-in. You're at the mercy of whomever makes the DRM. They might go under, or maybe they'll decide you shouldn't have rights to the song, software or movie. This seems like FUD, just look at the word choice. "forbidden" "barred from suing over alleged patent infringements" "radical" "tear it apart" "lesser-known programmer--infamously eccentric" "startling amount of control" "anticorporate crusader" "anarchist" "waged war on the commercial software industry, dubbing tech giants "evil" and "enemies of freedom" utopian anticapitalist" bent "impose new restrictions any other tech firm that distributes software using even a single line of Linux code" It's just sensationlist.
