  1. Safedisc, etc. Results? on Forty-Speed CD-RW Shootout · · Score: 1

    Speed of burners at this point in time is pretty much moot. What really differentiates them is their ability to reproduce copy protected titles. Where are those tests?

  2. IBM name change on Microsoft Says IBM/Linux Their Biggest Threat · · Score: 5, Funny

    ...and in other news, Stallman is demanding that IBM henceforth refer to itself as GNU/IBM...

  3. Probably...until the hack the hack comes out on Digital TV Still Indecisive · · Score: 3, Insightful

    Consumers could save digital broadcasts on DVDs, and transfer broadcasts for playback on different devices in the same house, they said. But they probably would not be able to e-mail an episode of "The Simpsons" to a friend, or make it available on a file-sharing network like KaZaA.

    At least until debroadcastcss is developed. Gee, they don't even seem confident that it will work...

  4. Early Boba Fett Prototype on Augmented Reality Quake · · Score: 1

    The last picture on the page was obviously directly copied from George Lucas' film archive. That was the early Boba Fett prototype when Lucas was on a budget.

  5. RF light needs to coexist in order to sell on New Lighting Technology To Wipe Out Wi-Fi Access? · · Score: 2, Insightful

    One thing that strikes me about all of this is that places that install high efficiency lighting are probably companies of various kinds. These same places will generally also purchase things like wireless networks (802.11b is all over the place now from gas stations to big companies). If a company finds that their new lighting system will disrupt day to day business, I doubt they'll invest and this will be bad news for Fusion Lighting since 802.11b was there first.

  6. Time to put aside ancient religous fears on China Ahead in Stem-Cell Research · · Score: 1

    It would seem that some countries have put aside their ancient fairytale religious superstitions and are moving science forward. Not that there shouldn't be regulations on this type of science (an FDA-like organization), but the outright bans we have proves that separation of church and state does not exist. We're going to end up way behind in biological and medical sciences if we continue this line of thinking.

  7. You like C++ on What Makes a Powerful Programming Language? · · Score: 1

    I have already looked at C++, Java, C++, C#, Eiffel, and even VB.net;

    You said C++ twice.

    We like C++.
