13000 year ago is before human become a environmental problem. This essental tell us that these animals simply disappeared because they are out compete by the current natives in US. Introduction of these foreign animals will affect our ecosystem in way that scientists may not expected. Ecosystem is complicated issue. We should try to lower our influence on it but should not mess with anything else.
I do not know exactly how much restriction the china's government have on the people. However, it is navie to think that Chinese would tranform overnight. because they get more information. We should know that by just looking at our own nation(US in my case). We get all the information but we rarely use them. People are generally play by the big corporate companies and the government as they have the "power" to control what we see. Most of us just would not dig deep enough to find the trust. Most of the time we do not ever care about the true as it does not affect us.
Let be honest, the "red china" government has made most chinese happy right now. I doubt the people want change. They are more worry about improving their living standard at the moment. They are ever people believe the government make the right move in 1989.(I know about the fact about it and I feel sad about the incident. However, I do beleive the students should share some of the blame on what happen that day).
By the way, I do not believe Chinese will look at Americans more favorable if they got more information about us. It probably will lower our popularity ever more. (Consider the trade war we are going to start and we keep on talking about the danger of China's rising in power)
you will have all the freedom you want if you are going to Hong Kong and Mocow. You probably wont go into any trouble unless you are starting a campaign against the Chinese government. By then, you would not have to worry. The local will be angry enough and start their own compaign against you anyway. While some of the people may not have much love to the current government, Chinese, other than Taiwan, are very supportive for a united China.
As for China itself, it is relative free nowaday. You can ever talk about politic and religious as long as you are not trying to spread your idea. The problem is the law is much stricter. There may be a time they want to enforce those laws and you will be get into trouble. By the way, do not expect US can get you out. In certain situation, the Chinese are expecting their government to act tough. If you are bringing Bible or such, just bring a copy for your own use. There were people who bought Bible to undergroud church and were put in prsion.
Soon, we do not need to worry about that anymore. US is getting less attractive now. This is show my decrase percent of US's sciencific paper as well as our number of graduated students.
I am a college student who came to USA 6 years ago. I am unfamiliar about the situation in computer field, as I am a biology major. However, I can tell that about a lot of the PH.D students and post-doctor researchers are either H-1 or J-1 in my university. Many of my professors come from other part of the world as well. I have also worked in a research insituation during summer and 50% of researchers are H-1 holder. It is my understand that they get about same amount of pay as their US counterpart. Therefore, it is very clear that there is actual shorten of talented people in certain fields. These people help US achieve great science breakthrough, which allow our society advanced as a whole.
I have no doubt that some of them directly compete with us directly for jobs. However, there are field that have actually shorten of talented people.
