Well I personally think its funny that most likely to this very day the US government is working under a 'war of the worlds' rule that says if little green men parked on the White house lawn to get some pics with the Obama cutout they'd be going "aliens? what aliens? didn't see a thing, nope' because they are afraid we poor little peasants would snap and go apeshit. It reminds me of a booklet my grandfather brought home from the airbase he was stationed on around the time of Blue book. It said "THERE ARE NO UFOS...but if you see one DO NOT FIRE unless fired upon and report it immediately to the base commander". He said 'perfect example of military logic, we refuse to admit anything might exist but don't shoot at the damned thing whatever you do".

The sad part is if UFOs are real most likely they are doing the same thing we do on those safari tours, pointing out the animals on some "tour of the crazy monkey world". I can just imagine the spiel "And here we have the crazy monkeys in one of their favorite past times, where they throw chunks of metal and primitive chemical rockets at each other in a fight for territory and dominance, most likely for mates and resources. No flurg you may NOT go poke one with a stick, do you have ANY idea what a crazy monkey smells like? you get close enough to poke it with a stick we will never get the stench out of the ship, woof. Oh and here's a treat for those with strong stomachs, over on the left we have two of the monkeys procreating on top of one of their primitive huts. As you can see they haven't developed asexual reproduction which is why we believe they smell so horrible, its most likely used to attract mates and to tell when the female is fertile. Oh it looks like its your lucky day folks, directly in front of us is one of their incredibly primitive flying vehicles, we believe those bulbous things hanging below it is a fetish to show the females how high the pilot ranks with the tribe, now we will play with it a little just so you can see how poorly built these machines are, why they can't even turn sideways!"

Oh please! China is about as communist as my left buttock, in fact other than a few hippie communes in the northwest in the 60s I don't think anyone has ever tried to have an actual communist state. What China was and to a point is, which was one of the reasons for the great Sino/Soviet split when the USSR divorced itself from his example was a variation on Stalinism, which is where a handful at the top live like Gods while the people do without. I know its hard after being pounded with propaganda to this very day (notice how anything the right doesn't like like healthcare for the poor is labeled 'socialist' like that is the same as kiddie fiddler?) but its easy enough to tell the difference as i sincerely doubt "the people' were asking for The Holodomor, the great purges, or to eat bark in NK while dear leader's fatass kid ate all the cookies. As for why China is so polluted its because they don't care how the worker's live (which again is the opposite of how Karl Marx designed communism) as long as they can roll around in cash while building up their military. it reminds me of old Joe and his 'five year plans" as by the end of those he had built some seriously pollution monsters, the only non Chinese city in the top 10 most polluted is an old Joe era chemical factory town in Russia.

As for TFA here is a perfect example of why the FDA and EPA need real teeth instead of letting the right gut what little regulations we have because its pretty obvious without the threat of millions in fines and a loss of their business most corps won't give a fuck about anything but the bottom line. of course the bitch is it never seems to fail that no matter how many times we think we've closed the loopholes the little bastards just get smarter, look at how many superfund sites we ended up stuck with because they set up some shell corp to take the fall. I'm seeing the same thing happen in my own state with the NG frakking and wildcatters as they've set up shell corps that rent everything from the tools to the office furniture to be the "face' company that just gets burned if bills pile up or they get hit with fines and then they can just start another shell corp, rent the gear again, and they are right back in business. We really need to make a law so these CxOs are held responsible for the damage their companies cause so they can't just 'pull an Enron' and walk away with the cash while we get stuck with the bills.

For a good example playing out now look how the airlines are gonna end up dumping their retirement accounts onto the US taxpayer while the CxOs bail with golden parachutes. they got to gamble with the funds and when things went pop they get to say "tough shit buh bye" and cash out, its completely fucked and rewards sociopaths and if we don't do something about it we'll have no choice but to become socialist because the majority of those with company run retirement accounts are libel to find nothing but a picture of the CEO snorting coke off some 19 year old hooker in their nest eggs they've worked their whole lives for.

With the amount of SAMs and AAA the Russians are selling to anybody with a buck any future enemies will be able to "bullet spam" the airspace and the lack of hardpoints for fuel really limits the roles the F-35 can take. Both the F-15 and F-18 can serve as fighter/bombers, frontline fighters, CAP, they have multiple roles they can cover while being a solid proven technology. We have already reached the point both of the teen series have to have limits placed on their turning radius because they can do moves that would kill the pilot and for stealth i really think we should concentrate on the drones as they can be cranked out faster and cheaper and the loss of pilots means they can turn sharper and take more Gs.

How much you wanna bet the Chinese will end up with it like they did the stealth chopper we lost going after Bin Laden and the F 117 they had dug up in Kosovo? Maybe they can figure out how to make it at a decent price and have it actually functional.

Well with Jobs I'd say it wasn't so much that he was batshit as he had one gift that made him, which a story i read about making iDVD illustrated. the guy was told his team would be presenting to Jobs so they made these mockups with all these buttons and functions and menus and Jobs walks in and looks at their stuff for less than a second before going to the whiteboard and drawing a square. He says 'this is it, this is the product. you have a box and you drop a video in the box and a button that says "burn" pops up. that's it" and he walks away.

And THAT was what made jobs a hit which i don't know if cook can replicate. Jobs had a knack for finding a market where the devices were too complex and releasing a butt simple device that your grandma could use that then became a hit. I had one of the first rio players and it was a fiddly bitch, menus and layers and a ton of bullshit whereas your mom could work an iPod. this is the concept i just can't get through to FOSS zealots with their perception bubble, they think because they like CLI and grep and pipes and all this fiddly shit they can get the masses to like it and that's not true, look at Windows 7 where your mom could run that thing with VERY little knowledge required. its all GUI and clicky clicky and plug and play, they've spent millions making everything pretty and hand holding and THAT is what the public wants, they do NOT want to have to think.

The problem cook is gonna have is all the low hanging fruit has been picked, you've got PMP and cell and handheld already covered. they are gonna have to find new markets where things are too fiddly and dumb it down for the masses. I'd say one they could go after is car stereos, those are still too knob heavy and fiddly replace it all with a flat screen and a few finger gestures would be nice.

but the fad jumping is REALLY getting old. you should fire up a VM and try the Win 8 dev Preview to see fad jumping at its worst, Steve Ballmer is gonna take a big old dump on his core business by trying to force iOS onto the desktop just because he wants to have a WinTab. the average desktop is NOT touch enabled and frankly most desktops and laptops WON'T be touch enabled because folks don't want to spend hours poking at a desktop, yet that is EXACTLY what Ballmer has done by putting a touch heavy cell phone OS on the desktop, all because of iOS being the buzz right now. its total fad chasing and will blow up in his face, but once they start chasing fads common sense takes a flying leap.

Well IMHO the smart move would have been to spin off the mobile group so they could innovate without trying to force "synergy" between it and the desktop. this is the core problem at MSFT, they have too many overlapping groups and they end up fucking one trying to tie it into the others. look at how Valve has taken the lead when it comes to Windows gaming simply because of the X360 stealing away developers that should have been working on Windows gaming. if they would have spun them off and simply had some basic rules on APIs and handles so windows and the X360 could work together without overlapping depts they could have snapped up the lion's share but instead they came out with a half ass GFWL trying to tie it to X360 and create "Synergy" between the two were frankly there wasn't any and fucked it all up.

Mark my words you are about to get a big lesson in this problem with Win 8, which if you've tried the dev preview (which you really should, its a fucking trainwreck!) you know its a touchscreen cell phone OS right up there with iOS being forced into a non touchscreen desktop just so ballmer can try to get developers for WinTab. its gonna bomb, folks don't have touchscreen desktops and frankly don't WANT to poke their monitors all day, but because Ballmer can't give away Windows mobile instead of getting a clue that the desktop and mobile need to be two separate companies he's gonna fuck the desktop with a cell phone GUI just like he's been fucking the mobile with a desktop GUI. if you haven't tried it i urge you to download the dev preview and fire up a VM, its a serious "WTF are they thinking?" moment that shows just how badly run that company is ATM. i'm just glad Win 7 is supported until 2020 because i'm telling my customers to get their desktops and laptops now because they won't want Win 8 and if its like Vista it'll be 6 or 7 months before the OEMs see the nosediving sales and demand downgrades rights.

Its the gifts friend, like how the drug companies will send your doctor to some nice vacation spot for a "conference' with his family all expenses paid. there ain't no 'conference' except some 30 minute 'keep pushing our drugs!' bit followed by a free week of sun and fun. Same shit, look at how Caribou Barbie had her house done for free, people kept finding work for bill's dumbass cokehead brother, its all in the gifts man. Also don't forget the cushy job they give you if you are a good shill, half the lobbying firms have some senator's kid/GF/ cousin/etc working at them, its a revolving door. You'd be surprised how cheaply you can buy congress, i remember reading it cost about 16 million in kickbacks to get the B-1 bomber passed and they made billions on the contract so its just considered the cost of doing business, like gas and insurance on your fleet. kinda sad but welcome to reality which is why banks can treat Wall Street like Las Vegas and get 'too big to fail' checks, its all down to how much and who you've cut the checks to.

What's Windows 96? Never heard of that. And frankly we don't KNOW how many bugs are being exploited in Debian, just as we don't KNOW how many bugs are being exploited in Windows 7. BTW XP? Its 12 years old now, let it go, okay? FOSSies have a raging hard on for that ancient thing but its legacy code that MSFT has been nice enough to continue providing patches for. Where is the 12 year old Debian i can still get patches for? that's right, it doesn't exist and i have NO CHOICE but jump on the upgrade deathmarch or be left unsupported. this is why I can't hand Linux out to customers, a frankly shitty lousy 3 years of support MAX and that is if i were to build my entire business around LTS, only to see when the 3 years is up the upgrade take a dump on the drivers.

You see EVERYONE has problems, Linux guys can't write a driver worth a shit, nor can they figure out how to make upgrades work, MSFT hasn't figured out how to force Windows updates on pirates which BTW the vast majority of zombie Windows boxes? pirated Windows which has had the updates killed to prevent WGA. And nobody cares how many eyes COULD look at the code all that matters is how many eyes that have the SKILLS DO look at the code and as i showed, and i'd be happy to wallpaper the post with links to Linux hacks, just ask, the "many eyes" bullshit is just that. For it to work you have to have AAA coders wasting thousands of man hours going through that shit on their own time and even a tiny bit of thought would tell you that's bullshit, AAA coders aren't gonna waste their free time doing your crap, they have money and lives to worry about. I could end with a 'get a damned job you lazy hippie" but its just too easy, so I won't. Instead i'll just say "have a nice day" because that's what kind of guy I am.
