Thanks, Captain Ostensible... while that explanation of law and government sounded good in your second grade civics text book it has absolutely no relationship with the actual workings of the state and power.

Laws exist to provide justification for intrusion by the state into a particular aspect of life of the community on which it resides. When the state takes on the role of protector of your child you no longer have a claim to him or her. Laws exist to carry out political agendas, to create policy. To keep the powerful in power and keep the weak out. It is true that people don't act in mutually beneficial ways, but the greatest concentration of self-centered people is in the government. Less laws is the solution. To stop violence, the greatest source of violence in society must be delegitimized.

Your view of the law is just something that people started telling themselves during the enlightenment so they could go to sleep at night without feeling like a total bitch.

That's nice in theory, but there are plenty of arbitrary limits on the employment pool besides just a simple gender-based restrictions. People refer and hire their friends...people form clans. You seriously think that some terrorists were using infoshop.org and there is any chance at all that this was part of a legitimate investigation? That site is used by basically white non-violent anti-war types... it's not a recruitment area for alqaeda. The FBI is simply engaging in it's PRIMARY mission of stifling and erradicating domestic political dissent, it has nothing to do with "the war on terror." It's as plain as day and only in the bizzare world of American mainstream media and hence, thought must we present the "other side" of the story in order to seem like reasonable and balanced people. Lol, some thugs demand a server administrators logs at gun point while claiming they are serving a greater, yet unrevealable, good and we have to actually CONSIDER what they are saying to us? It's safe to call bullshit on that one immediately.

What goes along with that though is being really good at spotting liars. a non-technical CEO can have smoke blown up his/her ass really easy by techies trying to get their way. If you're going to be delegating and taking ideas from more knowledgeable people you have to have a good bullshit meter.
