Isn't waiting for a high performance video solution a lot like waiting for a flawless shuttle launch? It has been a long time, a VERY long time since S3 could compete with any of the other major players in performance. They have always been the cheap integrated solution, or the cheapo get by with the bare minimum expansion card type of product. Not gonna hold my breath waiting for S3 to run the next generation video games, let alone current ones.
I read slashdot a lot, and I have barely scratched the surface of the much loved *nix OS side of things. I have not touched MAC OS at all. And I am pretty far into the MS side of things as a career. I can say with a certain combination of servers, applications, and the right OS you can do things I've never even seen mentioned here on/. When a *nix or MAC setup can do some of the things that the normal home user doesn't even know that windows products can do (like Sharepoint Portal, Live Communications, ISA Server, etc.) Then I might be impressed. But fact of the matter is unless someone can prove me wrong, I'll keep making my money setting up businesses with solutions that you can't get through the "others" out there. Thanks, end of line.
I guess I am a rarity of sorts on slashdot. I am a fence rider when it comes to OS software, Browsers, processors, and video cards. What does that mean? That means I use Windows and Linux, even though I only dabble in linux. I use IE, Firefox, and Mozilla. I also run AMD processors, as well as Intel. And of course I use Nvidia and Ati. My point? Simple enough, I know it is wishful thinking but can you folks just get over yourselves and your blind brand/product loyalty and actually try before bashing? Thanks now, end of line.

Hey Me: Note to self, don't post on /. after reading /. you can't make sense after the mind numbing sameness of the rants.

Do the new ones come with replicators and transporters?
