In the notes, he says "Always boots from C: (never from A: or D:)". An if you look at the history of the El Torito spec, it mentions that they began thinking about the possibilities of a bootable CD-ROM in 1993.
Does anyone know if DOS supported booting from CD-ROM in 1991?
Some shows just won't work with embedded advertising. Some cartoons take a year to make, so unless it's a generic "Eat at McDonald's" ad, you can't put it in. Also, if you have something that's for a limited time (like a special type of pizza) you don't want that ad shown again in the future. Plus you'll want that add shown often during the limited time, so you'll have to find many different shows that will put it in.
Documentary type shows, like the Crocodile Hunter, would also have problems placing products.
My wife has a degree in Psychology, and she says that behavior modification has been shown to be as effective as drugs. Behavior modification with drugs works even better.
Take the whole team out for a nice lunch. Find a place that everyone enjoys and just take a long lunch hour shooting the breeze about non-work stuff. When it's done. Tell them they're free to go home if they want.
Go to when the story was already published here and here, take some of the good comments and paste them here. Be quick before others steal "your" comment.
Take a look at the screenshots. There are no xeyes running! How can we take any X alternative seriously when they don't bother to port xeyes.
When I first showed my wife Linux, the first thing she asked was "What do those eyes do?" My reply, "Some people use them as a status indicator for predictive multitasking thread optimizer, but mine just look at the cursor." "Cool"
Because some ISP's will redirect all traffic bound for port 80 to a proxy server and handle it that way. So now you'd need to implement the P2P protocol over HTTP instead of just IP.
If other users are on the machine, they could easily set up a program that just loops trying to bind to port 8080 and when your webserver restarts, they now have control over it. Even if it is for a little bit, they might be able to do some damage.
Just try even a high end Pentium. I worked for an ISP and we still had a few customers that had Win 3.1 so we had a Pentium 233 with Windows 3.1 so we could work with the install program. Everything was instant.
So? If they don't have IM they might use the company phone or compose a long e-mail to the person? I tried looking for the paper but couldn't find it. I use an IM at work all the time and it's nice. If I'm talking on the phone to someone and they want a URL, I just IM to them, instead of trying to spell out the URL.
OK, so I have some pictures on reel tape with some libraries written in an obsolete language. Now I just need someone who can read the media and translate the library to some more popular language.
Use a Perl script that would do this would be better. You could also try running "stty -echo" before you run telnet. But it's a pain when you can't see the commands you typed. Also, with the Perl script you could implement the more secure ways to connect, such as APOP, so your password isn't sent over the network in plain text.
Actually, the second argument of TOP is the number of lines to read from the body, not KB. Also, make sure no one is looking over your shoulder since you password will appear on the screen.
My Gateway isn't like that. Sure, I bought it back in 98, so things might have changed, but I can crack open the case to add new hardware and the warranty was still fine.
Check with the provider of the voice mail system. They might have an application already. Whether or not it works under WINE might be a different story.
I noticed alot of them had "@inetgw" appended to the address. Maybe someone set up a web page with Enter your Name and Address and send this premade comment.
If someone downloads the comments, do a search to see how many of them have "@inetgw" or a duplicate message.
Nice gesture, but some artists don't go to smaller venues. Sure, I'll pay to go to a concert, but I'm not going to pay a high price for the ticket, spend a day travelling, take time off from work, etc....

I clicked on their reseller link and clicked on the one line they had for the US. That page only had Quake for Linux under the software category.
How do they expect to make a profit if they're only reseller for the US doesn't carry their stuff?

Didn't that have more to do with licensing that was required for non-free decoders? They didn't want to bother with that so they just made it free.

Get yourself a green t-shirt, a grey sweatshirt, some Robitussin and go as Ellen Feiss.

I think if you have Romero complaining about you being late, just call him Dr. Kettle.

Named his daughter Amanda Perl. Amanda is the name of a UNIX backup utility. And Perl should be fairly obvious. He should have named her Ada Perl.

Here's a google cache of a webpage that some of the pro-comments came from here. I wonder if the DOJ would consider these comments less valuable.

Good the the lameness filter allowed her to post. Otherwise Taco would be really mad.
