my personal choice of search engine is google i have to admit... as for the windows live, as i mentioned, its quite buggy at the moment (sowwy:$)... and the background image is part of a wallpaper that ships with mac os x:)... back in january they used as the wallpaper for the iphone during the demos and stuff... and the rest of the design is kinda based on the standby screen of the iphone (and yeah, sometimes i have a bit to much fanboi tendencies... lol)
i'm glad you like the design tho (even tho its quite heavily inspired/stolen from the iphone)... and please keep in mind that it was a quick side project i threw together in a 48 hour time frame, and which i haven't touched since... lol
you might find 48 hour side project i did a few months ago interesting (but it has branding)... its SearchTheThree.com, and it basically returns the results from google, yahoo and windows live in three colums next to each other. its quite buggy atm tho, and IE just pukes and gives up with the current design:P... but i have been meaning to do something more with it, but between lack of time and work, and lack of big ideas for it, i just never got around to it...
altho, your suggestion does tickle my geek bone, and i think i'll redo search the three, remove the branding, shuffle results around a bit randomly while still keeping the relevance of results mainly in order, and track each click and see what happens to the stats... hehe... hell, i might just do it tonight and see how many minutes of sleep i can get tomorrow morning before i have to be at work... lol
like dave said, it shows the results from the three big search engines, side by side... altho keep in mind it was a 48 hour side project of mine just, and the level of bugginess can very... windows live search for example has an ugly tendency to just not work at all with a lot of queries...:P... i've been meaning to take a serious stab at the project shortly tho when i get some free time:)
ok, well turns out after a lot of shit, that the kernel panics were caused by the updated sound drivers... cause my sound chip is well, dead to some degree, enough for no sound I/O to work anyway... it'd never been a problem previously (other then obvious lack of sound:P), but in 10.3.8 for some reason, the updated sound drivers instantly caused a kernel panic...
i tried to restore the previoius sound drivers, at least what i could see as the obvious... but with no luck... so i'm stuck with 10.3.7 for a while till i get off this island in the middle of nowhere and get my pb repaired... lol
i downloaded the delta update and updated my G4 powerbook 1.5GHz from 10.3.7... everything seemed fine, till i got back up online and started protues, instantly when the contact list apeared OSX crashed on me with the pretty lil multilang box. so i rebooted, not being to happy, tried starting protues again, same thing... after that i fucked proteus, and figured i'd check for an update, and use msn messenger for a bit. but, what do you know? bloody cracking msn did the same thing, yet another kernel panic. by this point i was starting to get pissed off... so i tried some other stuff and ran into kernel panics again, altho it was running alright for about 20 min when i wasn't using it:P...
it ended with osx being like a tower of jelly compared to dreaded winme even when it came to stability... personally i ended up with having to reinstall osx, with archive and install, cause it was way to unstable to burn anything... somewhere along that line i decided to split my hd into 2 partitions and stuff aswell... i've since burned my data, reinstalled osx, moved the/Users folder to a seperate partition and also moved the virtual memory directory to the same partition since its bigger...
i'm currently installing updates to bring it back to 10.3.7, then i'm gonna backup my system partition to a disk image just incase, and try the update once more to see whats going on...
hopefully i wont get the same kinda shit again, but with my luck you never know... lol:P
since when were hardcore geeks "normal"? ;)
