"Well, he HAD to continue to work the problem, that's his job, he didn't really have the option of simply ignoring the situation, did he? Not sure that constitutes a pat on the back."
Were sorry, the iPhone is not supported on the University network. Block iPhones from accessing the network. Problem solved. Very much an option, at least in their eyes.
What about geothermal and hyrdoeletric? In areas where they are available they are capable of provideing a constant power source. Of course the areas where these can be found are not necessarly the best places for a datacenter though...
The thing is for areas where you can get the land you it is practical to do something similar to this. It's called Geoexchange or a Geothermal Heat Pump. Alternatively, if you are near a major body of water you can use it for cooling (by heat exchanger of course, which I would say is simpler than a phase-change AC system).
"If you're going to engage in domestic spying, you need effective oversight from the other two branches of government. If the executive branch deceives the other branches, then the American people's only recourse is thru oversight by the press."
I don't really think you could go at this with a seperation of powers or checks and ballences argument as congress was briefed on the matter, thus fufilling his Article 2, Section 3 duities.
Now reguarding the 4th amendment, there may, or may not be an argument there.
All I would use software for is tuning (not even a proper tuner, just a MIDI sequencer and a file that plays an A, and only because I don't have a metronome), Recording (rarely) and some music typesetting or printing.
As for recommendations for software I would look into Lilypond (http://lilypond.org/web/) for typesetting, and Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) for recording and tuning (if you don't have a metronome).
And as a previous poster said, you will not be using this stuff during a "normal" practice session. You would print music off of Lilypond, and once you have tuned up, you will have no need of audacity unless you are recording which will not often be the case.
"neck-bending maneuvering to engage other aircraft"
Which is similar to the neck bending needed to avoid other aircraft. Which is why AOPA is concerned that domestic use of these unmanned aircraft will interfere with general aviation.

For around $200-$400 more, I think they could break into the pro-audio and home studio market. Just add multi-track recording, a synthesizer, MIDI Interface, and the ability to play CD's at different tempos without changing key. Seriously on the last point, I've seen standalone recorders go for that much just to have that capability. See this page for an example of such a device.
Oh, and add MS Windows support for the fancy software playlist manager. Judging from the computing habits of some of the (former and current) members of my city's philharmonic orchestra, there isn't that much greater corporation of mac users amongst classical music fans than in the general population to support this.
Another device with embedded Linux, this time with a database that can track opus numbers (and I thought opus numbers were just used by composers to trick music publishers and vice versa!). It will become important news to the Linux community when their playlist management software is ported to Linux.

Though I wonder how using opposed pistons might effect the overall efficiency of the engine, since it is effectively usine more than one engine.

I belive you have your fifths and fourth mixed up. Violin, Viola and Cello tune to the fifths. Bass tunes to the fourth.
