  3. My dad used to teach at a community college, He secured a $200,000 grant from industry to teach electronics. The college proceed to take HALF the grant money for "adminstrative overhead", and he was left with the other half to buy equipment for the class. Semiconductor manufacturing equipment is not cheap...

    I didn't write 256 byte long code, but I did write EPROM code that ran a hand-held terminal with only 256 bytes of ram built into the microcontroller.

    I have never done the "rm -rf" cliche, but I have done something stupid: Rebooted a Sun server while logged in remotely from a workstation, not anticipating that I would have to go to the server room anyway and log in locally to bring it back up because I would no longer be able to log in remotely.

    I think you mean between 0.15 and 0.2, i.e. 6:1 against Trump winning. Hillary is 2:1 in favor. Yes, people willing to put their money where there mouth is is the best way for estimating the probability of an event happening.

    Elon Musk appears to think farther ahead than the current quarterly profits, but most executives don't. Heck, Welch-Allyn was 100 year old privately held company, and still appeared focused more on short-term profits than long-term strategy... why? I'm beginning to think being publicly held and accountable to shareholder greed is part of the problem, but like I said, even privately held companies seem to suffer from myopia.

    Both sides want to keep men out of women's bathrooms. One side considers someone with muscles and a beard who was born without a penis a man, while the other side considers him a woman. Personally, I would prefer people that look like men to you my restroom than my daughter's restroom, but the NC laws states that they MUST use the women's room!

    Not quite a binary as simple-minded people like to think it is. 0.2% of the population are born intersex, with both male and female attributes. Granted, it's a corner case, but doesn't the "bathroom laws" imply they are not allowed to use EITHER facility?

  20. You've obviously never been to SOUTH Carolina! NC is saved by the tech people in the Raleigh/Durham/Research Triangle Park area, who are relatively liberal. SC has no redeeming highly-educated neighborhoods.

    If you make a habit of studying the genitals of other occupants every time you use a public restroom, perhaps the problem is you, not them... normal people politely look the other way!

    Exactly how to you lie about the IP address you're using to connect to the server? (Ok, they could use a proxy, but come on, this is North Carolina... most of 'em aren't smart enough to figure that out!)

  24. xHamster also pointed out there have been over 500,000 searches from IP addresses in NC for "she-male" porn, so apparently North Carolinans love to watch transgender people have sex, they just don't want them sharing restrooms with their wives...
