Probably due to the large number of people who cared enough to search for Walmart:-p. Don't know about you, but I tend to ignore ads, even blatant ones.
So we've used a few hundred years of technology for almost a hundred years to look for signs of life in a (nearly?) infinite universe and not found anything. Must mean its not there.
Considering the state of terrestrial intelligence, maybe any ETIs have realized that broadcasting attack coordinates into space may not be such a great idea?
Personally its just really annoying. With MSFT or Apple products you just click through it in the install without ever reading it. I remember having to go online and looking up how to install MP3 support the first time I used Fedora Core 3. I got it working but it took a lot of time. Let's face it, the typical non-standard install is easier or requires less know-how than on Linux still.
Some people can't handle taking that much time or needing to know that much about Linux.
I'd be curious what percentage of patents were actually researched for this project and how they were selected. I'm not against the theory that patents can hurt more than help, but I find it difficult to believe that they had enough time to properly research a vast amount of patents. Especially trying to narrow it down to financial losses and gains for specific patents.
I agree, they may have bought 10 minutes by keeping their mouths shut and not encouraging people crack the protection. I will laugh my ass off if there's a solution like holding in a shift key and they have to eat their words.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the blades or shaft icing be an issue in such high latitudes? They did not have specs posted, so perhaps there's some sort of built in electrical heater, but that would reduce efficiency and create more parts to break. I'm doubting they want to send maintenance teams out there too often.
How is this entrapment? Entrapment is only when the facilitation of the crime is created through actions of the police. While I dislike the MPAA and generally any XXAA, this isn't by the police. Even if it was, it would be a fairly weak claim, as it isn't terribly different than claiming that a sidewalk sale was entrapment because it made it easier to shoplift.
While IANAL, the wikipedia article claims that a test against entrapment is that "police or other investigators would catch only those "ready and willing to commit crime". That would probably be sufficient to negate the entrapment defense.
Well, realistically, it would be more about consuming soda faster than the body can get rid of the caffeine up to the level that 33 gallons would supply.
I grant you that higher math is not needed for many programming basics. But if you look at it in a more abstract way, there is no way you will program an office suite, a video game, etc without some higher math.
As far as what the brain does, I don't think you, I, nor probably even the experts are certain how it functions. It's almost certainly not the binary math of a computer, but I'm willing to bet that there are chemical and electrical functions that act mathematically. If nothing else, I can at least think math, so there has to be some capability there.
I actually remember hearing about a device similar to this principle of not using math... I believe they called it an Etch-a-Sketch.
As much as I disliked math I don't really see how computing is possible without it. Perhaps using math as the proverbial hammer for computing has created some nails out of screws, but I can't imagine one could have any sort of computing without some level of math built in. The brain is probably the closest example I can think of, and I'm sure there is a lot of math involved somewhere behind the scenes (or certainly would need to be to replicate a brain electronically).
I'm pretty sure you'd reach death by diabetes first, or even over-hydration(desalinization?). Or possibly just loose the will to live after about can 40.
Why would they let the children have computers? Plus the 'net would take away from their 18 hour work days.

Walmart bursts into a community where its not wanted and people there complain. They must be turning over a new leaf.
There's probably a door around back that is standing open.
Or maybe its broadcast with sarcasm which also seems to go undetected... :)

I'm glad to know that guns, nades, mortars, etc are safe and can't blind people. Good to know.
Why not? I "store" company property at home. Free office supplies!
How much energy does Window's blue screens save?
I can't wait for the 5 core CPUs then so I can run:
5. Profit!!!
...unless the needle wasn't sterilized properly. But it would cure it anyway.

Like the Vista install that came with my laptop?
Besides, he made up half the words he used. :)

Well, Microsoft has a solution, buy 20 copies of the product and you'll have 19 working ones :).
Yeah, I bet he believes in that exercise bunk too...

I'm sure it was innocent, the application was probably still beta, and not meant to be released yet.
