Yeah, back then my phone was about as much as yours. I'm not a big fan of flip phones in general, and especially not a fan of the looks of the startac but I do have friends who have good experiences with them. Sanyo and Samsung are supposed to be good quality too though. My friend still has his old sanyo (same as my first) and has never had trouble with it and many of my friends have had the samsung flip-phones for a long time. I am noticing a disturbing trend, friends with old phones seem to have better reception than friends with new phones, what a stupid trend!
I am getting my 6th phone in two years from sprint in the mail soon. The backlight broke in my first (Sanyo), got no reception with the second (Sanyo), LCD broke in my third (Kyocera 2255?), got no reception with my fourth (Samsung n240), ditto with fifth (n240)...and well, we'll have to see what problems I'll have with my sixth (Sanyo 6000):P Or it could just be that Sprint PCS sucks...well they do!
I take very good care of my phones so the fault definitely lies with the manufacturer (apart from the 2nd which met with an unfortunate collision with a wall after my nth dropped call, otherwise none have been dropped, hit or smooshed).
What I find remarkable is that not only did they copy the case but also the keyboard. Why they would to that I don't know as I would hate to type on it all day (yes, I have used the iMac keyboard and though I like the machine the keyboard is just a pain) so it's hardly for aesthetic reasons they did so. I think they just wanted to leech off the design, plain and simple. It's just business. And what about the colours? Damn if that isn't a dead giveaway! Wonder what mouse if comes with:)
Did I misunderstand or did they compare a 400Mhz G3 with 128MBs RAM worth less (I assume) than $5000 to a 100000DM server with 2GB of memory and four Xeon processors? If so then I'd say it fared pretty well. If only they (apple) could iron out that fatal error bug.

The page was bad, the jokes non-existent and just said Macs suck because they suck basically. Why on earth this was posted on Slashdot as a News item I have no idea. Let's not insult users of other OS because we don't like what they use. It's futile and a waste time. I used to come to/. before I got LinuxPPC and thought it was nice because of computer related news/interesting stuff not because I was interested in listening to people trash OSes.
