Sir, you need some corrections on the FPGA prices. It's more like $30 per chip for a descent sized part. Yes they can be larger than the other chips, but that's because of all of the routing resources inside. If FPGA's were $30K per chip, nobody would be using them and there's be a lot more ASIC's out there.
