  1. Re:Not trying to start a flame war (honest)... on Enlightenment DR17 On the Linux Desktop · · Score: 0

The innovation is under-the-hood. All you are seeing right now is low-hung-fruit. It's pretty fruit, yes, but it is derivative. But, hell, why not - it's kinda sexy. And it's not that hard in E17/ Take a look at the code, though. Now, that is sexy.

Nope. Just not true. Enlightenment (ie E16) has been around for longer and looked quite different to OSX (and E17). They are just fooling with all the new toys -doing we-can-do-that-too.. nyaa. But you are missing the point. E17 is beauitiful under-the-hood. Sexy even. Take a peek at the code, maybe late at night and in private.

Locoscript (on the Amstrad PCW Word Processor) was really big amongsty British Academia during the 1980's. It would be interesting to know if their [+bold]tagged format[-bold] had any influence on the OED..

Expect a deluge of shitty Adword Optimizers.
    Have you written yours yet?..

Mine will not only generate the clicks and clickthoughs itself but optimize for the target group of the self-generated clicks and clickthroughs while keeping extensive statistics on where those self-generated clicks and click-throughs are coming from wrt location, market sector and time of day. It will also optimize cost-per-clicks so you will have to pay less for those self-generated clicks and because those clicks will be distributed accross a network of self-installing spyware you will have no need to worry about generating huge bandwidth bills while self-generating those huge amounts of clicks and clickthroughs.

    Simple.

  5. What about streaming? on Mac mini All About Movies? · · Score: 1

I'm not sure that the Mac Mini is Apple's Set-top box. I reckon there's more to come in that department.

    However..

Everyone seems to be assuming that for an iTunes Movie store to work the movies would have to be downloaded in their entirety.

However, the new codec is also ideal for high quality streaming - select your movie and a time for delivery, fill the cache, and away you go. Pauseable movies delivered to your home. Maybe not HDTV but surely near DVD quality..

(of course if they start with something already low qauality eg TV shows, they will have a breathing space until the hardware and brodband connections catch up to HDTV standards. Although I admit that's not very Apple :))

Streaming into a proprietry iTunes player negates the worry of movies being burned to disk.

    Am I missing something?
